DIY letterpress can be tricky. takes a lot of practice, from what i’ve seen. have you looked at the tutorials on boxcar press? http://www.boxcarpress.com/letterpress-machine/

the supplies can be expensive. letterpress paper isn’t cheap. look here: http://letterpresspaper.com/ they can do custom sized paper so you don’t have to cut it all yourself.

i know that lifestyle crafts sells letterpress ink, but i don’t think they have gold. i did find this, though: http://www.boxcarpress.com/shop/metallic-letterpress-ink-gold-871-oil-base/ it’s expensive, professional ink, and a LOT of ink. you could contact them and ask if they’d do a smaller amount for you, it never hurts to ask.

I don’t think it’s really that hard. I did it and I really liked how ours turned out. It is a fairly straightforward project. I will say though, it isn’t cheap. I did a tutorial on it once upon a time, you should be able to find it easily on the blog
