i am in LOVE with this idea from the newest martha weddings mag :

“Shaken, not stirred? Nope — in the case of these homemade liqueur lollipops, the catchphrase is “stirred, not sucked.” Meant to be swirled into a glass of champagne until they dissolve and infuse the bubbly with flavor, these playful pops (in black currant, raspberry, and peach) are a grown-ups-only take on the tried-and-true childhood treat.”

i suppose we could also offer the same drink with sprite or ginger ale for the fuddy-duddies at the wedding?

I didn’t read through all of the other comments, but personally, I love a long island OR a mojito… for a signature wedding drink though, if I were a guest, I would be happy with some kind of alcoholic punch or fruit drink.

Oh jungle juice. We usually called it trash can punch in college. That’s an awful name isn’t it?

Love the literary theme! There’s a drink called the Newbury (different spelling) and it has Blue Curacao in it. I haven’t had it so I don’t know what color it ends up with when mixed with the Sweet Vermouth, but it sounds yummy.

The recipe is 1 oz. gin, 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth, 3 dashes Blue Curacao – served in martini glasses.

I love Mojito’s but green is not in our wedding color palette however, blue is 🙂 We picked an Electric Blue Lemonade made with Blue Cur. and Lemonade as well.

We’re doing three – my favorite drink, his favorite and our cuddling up on the couch when it’s snowing drink:

* Bubbles & Blue
* Captain & Coke
* Chocolate Milk Whip

Plus a white wine, a red wine, Guinness, Harp, and non-alcoholics. We think it’s a fairly good mix – something for everyone!

I had pineapple mojito’s.  It was mainly for me (since I’m a picky drinker) and I told all my bm and a few friends. And about a few hours later, I heard they were almost out.  They were a hit!  I guess I should have bought a bottle or two more of pineapple rum.  Oops.

For our wedding in Italy we will serve the following as aperativo:

Martini Rosso (which is just red, sweet vermouth on ice with twist of orange, not an actual ‘martini’ drink as Martini is just the brand name of the vermouth)

Campari Orange (orange just with campari with slice of orange….beautiful color!)

Orangina type soda (in Italy called aranchiata)

For dinner:

Local white wine as we will only be serving fish dishes.
