@ScenicRoute:  I’m so happy for you for making this decision!  Congrats!

Just a suggestion, but something I thought might help you quit.  I quit two years ago and started running.  Running will make you never want to smoke again.  After a long run, when your lungs are burning (in a good way), the thought of a cigarette will make your stomach turn.

Good luck to you!!!

@pocketful_of_flowers:  Oh am I so HAPPY to hear that!  I wish I could shout it from the rooftops and make every smoker in the world understand that, contrary to practically every piece of information you have ever received about quitting smoking, it is NOT HARD!  It is so easy!  I know that for me, that misinformation made it feel like so much more of a sacrifice to quit smoking, therefore making smoking seem so much more valuable than it is.  The lie that quitting is hard is the very thing that makes so many smokers afraid to quit and makes it so much easier to start again once they do quit.  Like they have an excuse, “Yeah, I started smoking again. Man, it’s just so HARD to quit though, you know?”  And that is just bullshit.  Total bull.  I quit cold turkey 6 months ago and I never a single time after craved a smoke.  It was the easiest bad habit I ever broke.

@ScenicRoute:  I just wanted to pop in and say that I am so, so, so proud of you. I know it’s strange to say that to a complete stranger, but girl, you friggin rock! Same to all the other Bees who kicked, or are in the beginning stages of kicking the habit!

We recently lost a dear family friend to lung cancer. 3 years of treatments, pain, tests, and tears, and he decided to not fight any more. If he had just put down the cigarettes when his wife did, he’d still be here… tall, smiling through his scruffy beard, sleeves rolled up on his signature plaid shirt. I’m crying now, even though it’s been 4 months.

You are giving yourself and your loved ones the most amazing gift: more time on this earth. Every time you feel weak, or have a craving, know that you are stonger than that craving. Your health is more valuable than a few puffs on that cigarette.

Kick cigarettes ass.
