“Relax the space between your ears.”
WTF does that even mean?! She says it during the cool down of level 1 for 6 week 6 pack.
In the past I’ve done 30DS, NMTZ, and BFBM, and I remember thinking that she said some things that just pissed.me.off. I just want to add that almost all of the time I do find her motivating but sometimes I just want to toss the tv out the window!
So what is it for you?

I do Rodney Yee Yoga DVDs on occasion, and his enunciation bothers me. Instead of relax, he says something that sounds like “Rewax” … kind of remindsme of Elmer Fudd on occasion. It’s not noticeable to everyone, but it grates on me a little.

I’m assuming that it has something to do with clearing your mind, since the space between your ears usually refers to the brain. It’s a stupid expression, though.

@Boston Bee: HAHA!! I still have that one on my list, but I’m intrigued to hear her say that. It sounds like one of those things you say then think later, “what the heck??”
Generally, she is pretty motivating for me. I’m doing NMTZ and love it, but I hate her the whole time. The Surrender for your triceps?? Holy crap just kill me now…

Hahah, when she says “Look at our girl Natalie here – if she can do it, so can you” ummm… Natalie is a beast of a fitness model and works out all the time. Most of us at home do not match her level of fitness, so that always bugs me haha! I know there are more. I have all of her DVDs and am hoping to get Extreme Shed & Shred for Christmas (available for pre-order on amazon right now). I find her motivating because she’s not “too nice” or too peppy in her videos. I can’t stand Leslie Sansone with her chipper “walk walk walk walk walk walk walk!” haha

I adore JM. But it REALLY BOTHERS me that Natalie and the counterpart (I forget her name at the moment) are ALL SMILES throughout the entire routine and do not even break a sweat! To me, that is VERY UNREALISTIC portrayal of working out. I much rather have them act ‘real’. Who is constantly smiling cheek-to-cheeks during workouts? That’s right…. NO BODY!

Haha, the only saving grace for me on that is watching Natalie cheat during the lunges and bicep curls on 30DS level 1–when they cut to Anita, you can see her just doing the curls and not doing the lunges. It always makes me feel better…like, I can’t do it either! 🙂

haha the little things like this irritate me sometimes as well. She probably means clear your mind and just focus on this or whatever. Really stupid expression.

I hate when she says “Dont phone it in” during Shred. I’m a fan of Jillian because she motivates me and somehow she always knows when I’m about to die and keeps me going!

I hate when she says “don’t phone it in” too! I bought Ripped in 30 and find it nearly identical to the Shred but at least she’s saying different things. I swear if I ever meet her in person I’m gonna “take a soft knee” and “ENGAGE that core” and cock my fist back and punch her in the face

@Marabeth – haha, yeah, I noticed that too – only for Jillian to say later “see, they don’t even cheat when I’m up here not looking, they don’t even cheat, they’re so tough” it’s like, nope, they are not! Though in Killer Buns and Thighs, she makes a point to say that they’re filming all day long and not to give them crap when they’re using light weights or whatever, haha.

! The first time I saw Natalie cheating I was PISSED! I always feel bad for Anita (and by proxy, myself!) because Jillian is always like “Natalie is my girl! She is such a bad ass!” I want to be like, GO ANITA! THis is still Hard as crap!!!

Hahahahahaha. Totally wondered if anyone else caught Natalie skipping on some of the lunges during the bicep curls. She is in great freaking shape, though.
Jillian doesn’t bother me at all but I always work out with my music cranked up high (and the volume on mute on the TV) so there you go. Still, it irritates me that she spends like half of the workouts just talking and walking between Natalie and Anita, and then tells us to push harder, don’t stop, yadda yadda. I also feel like the transitions between workout positions take the girls way too long. They’re still shuffling around and getting situated and I’m already on push-up #4.
