I love the idea of a converitble dress that my bridesmaids can wear again and can also wear in a way that they fell most comfortable are unique to themselves!
Has anyone worn these yet, or has your bridesmaids worn these (Henkaa Dress)? I would love to see real life pictures of them and the pros and cons of using them!
Also, does anyone know if there is a store that carries them? So we would be able to try them on with a few of my Bridesmaids…..

The fabric of those dresses tends to be very clingy and unforgiving, so make sure all of your maids try them on before deciding.

Hmm haven’t seen the dress but my advise is just find something you really like and don’t think about it being something the girls will wear after the wedding. I don’t know anyone who has ever reworn a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress on any other occassion no matter how cute it was for the wedding day.

My Bridesmaid or Best Man tried convertible dresses, but as previously stated the fabric can be clingy.
My advise is make sure that if you get them, you will have someone on the day who can tie everyone’s dresses, because they look GREAT tied right, but it would need someone good at tying them. Plus the day can be stressy enough without your Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses not tying right!!

I agree. I’ve never seen anybody (in person) rewear a bridesmaid dress no matter how great of an intention the bride had. Letting them rewear the dress was priority for me so I had to sacrifice a “certain look” and let them pick whatever they wanted from any regular store (Dillards/JCrew for ex.) and I only told them to pick a neutral color with length above the knee. So in this case, if they don’t rewear it, its kinda their fault.
@parada: I googled Henkaa Dress and they do look pretty cool! ETA, what color would you go with?

My coworker rewore her bridesmaid dress bc it was made out of a fabric that wasn’t bridesmaidsy, so it can be done. But, I’ve never been able to bc I’ve always had a long gown and it’s always been that taffeta material or whatever that can’t be reworn lol

@parada: I went with the Dessy twist dress for my bridesmaids. They are all different sizes and the jersey actually looks really great on all of them. Some of my ladies think they will wear it again…. but I’m not holding my breath on that! The Dessy dresses were $130, so on the cheaper side of bridesmaids dresses. I wanted to keep it (relatively) inexpensive and didn’t want them all to look identical. I tried them out with one of my bridesmaids, and we were able to tie it a whole bunch of different ways really easily!

I would put the girls in a charcole grey (groomsmen will be in black)

@parada: I wanted the convertible dresses too but when I talked to my girls (3) they all expressed that they do not think they would wear a dress like that again. (background : I am not paying for dresses/acessories but everything else ) so I went with the pin up girl look and told the girls, buy whatever dress you want as long as it is a pin up girl style.
that to me, is unique =)

@parada: We went with Henkaa dresses and my bridesmaids all loved them!
There are two sizes – very easy to figure out which one you are – and the fabric is so flowy and lovely in person. My bridesmaids all commented on how much they loved the way the fabric felt.
You can order online or go to their store (it’s at Yonge and Finch, I believe – do you live in Toronto?). The associates were also really helpful over the phone. In our case, my bridesmaids placed their orders online, indicating that they’d be picked up in-store by one of the bridesmaids (she wanted to try the dress on anyhow and get a few pointers on styling) – this saved on shipping and it all worked out.
One tip: I do suggest the sticky strapless ‘gummy’ bras since they stay and remove awkward shapes/outlines in the bust area.
Here are some photos of my bridesmaids in their Henkaa dresses:

@lovekiss: This is exactly why I said no to those when someone (not a bridesmaid) proposed the idea.

@sheepandbear: I was able to pick a dress also, we all had mismatch dresses and even though it fit great and was my syle I don’t think I’d ever re wear it because I will always associate it with a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress no matter what ha.

@mrs.stormylove: lol maybe we are all doomed when it comes to wanting our girls to rewear bridesmaids dresses.
