I mentioned this briefly under my old account, but now that I have a new one I just had to share. Please excuse my girly excitement.
I was on American Idol! Well kinda….
A few weeks ago I took a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studious (aka, the old MGM) and I got the guts up to audition for Disney’s American Idol Experience. It is set up exactly like the real American Idol, and the winner gets a front of the line pass to a real AI audition. I auditioned with a Beyonce song from the movie Dreamgirls (gotta represent) and made it through all 3 rounds of auditions! The last round was in front of the producer, and I was n-e-r-v-o-u-s, but he was so cool about it, and even got into the song a little bit with me. When he handed me my golden ticket I was BLOWN AWAY!
My mind went “Holy crap, I actually tried out, and holy crap I totally got through.”
I’m retarded, I know.
They gave me a ticket of when to come back for hair and makeup. Yes, I said hair and makeup. I got to work with a vocal coach, a stage coach, and got myself hooked up to the sound system. We ran through the sound check several times, and the stage is exactly like the real one. It was intensssssseeeeeeee.
When the big moment came to actually perform, IN FRONT OF ABOUT 500 PEOPLE, I was freaking. The sound guy handed me the microphone, I took a deep breath, and walked out under the lights. IT ROCKED!! I sang “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. The judges were so nice to me, and the feedback from the audience was amazing. It was like living a real dream come true. I ended up coming in second place. I got beat out by a super cute and charming Irish guy with an adorable accent. Obviously, there was no beating that. I was really happy he won, and that he got the opportunity to come out of his shell. He was more terrified than I!
I don’t know what more to say than it is something I will never forget! So without further ado, pictures!
The rest of the day walking around the parks so many people came up to me to tell me they had seen me perform, and that I did really well. I even signed a few autographs!
