@LuvMySailor: Though I’m only 24ish weeks, I’m pretty sure I’m going to switch to formula sooner than later.
For the record, my two younger brothers and I were all formula fed (Mom had difficulties with it and switched soon after she had me, straight to bottle for my brothers). I have multiple degrees, including an engineering degree from one of the top engineering schools. One brother is a lawyer, and the other is a doctor and chief resident at one of the top psych programs in the country. I rarely brag like that and I’m sorry, but as you can see, we weren’t effected by the “a ton of health problems that can affect the rest of their whole lives”
+1!!!! Well said.
To the PP who told the OP to research the dangers of formula first:
I’m surprised you remembered anything from health class as you “both smoke as well as grow our own plants”. Maybe I should say I’m surprised you were paying attention the negatives caused by formula-feeding rather than the health problems caused by marijuana (increase risk for psychoses, addiction, and problems with memory and learning)…. but I’m sure you did the research before you made your decision.

Honestly, I don’t think it matters in the long run whether you bf or formula feed. I was formula fed and so were most people I know. We’re smart, happy and healthy. I’m currently bfing my 3 month old amd I love it. It was really, really tough in the beginning…but it does get easier and really enjoyable (at least in my experience) if that’s what you decide to do,
Whatever you choose, don’t feel badly!

@ash064: How many children do you have? What is your personal experience? What school are you in because.. this health teacher/professor should be fired!
NONE NONE NONE of the babies in my ENTIRE family have been breast-fed and I’m proud to say 95% of us are over-achievers. We’ve excelled in school and at work. We’ve all gone on to have healthy, happy adult relationships.
I’d LOVE to see these studies you are referring to, as I suspect, if they even exist, they are biased for one reason or another. Likely someone trying to push their agenda with false facts.
OP… you’ll do what’s right for your LO… and if providing nutrients through formula is the best option.. go for it!!!

I had a spinal headache after my son was born and couldnt breast feed because of pain meds. When I finally did try he wouldn’t latch on. So bottles and formula it was! my son is perfectly healthy 🙂 Make whatever choice you feel is best for you and baby. Anyone who tries to tell you what to do can kick rocks, this is your choice and your choice alone
