Honest Opinion? The way the waist is cut is not the most flattering. I can tell you have a nice shape but this dress isn’t accentuating that. It’s almost like there’s just way too much fabric there

Pretty! The only issues I see are the belt is too thick (which you’ve addressed) and the bodice is sitting pretty low on you which hopefully can be addressed through alterations.

I think it’s great that you’re changing it to a sweetheart and changing the belt! Such a pretty dress, but honestly it isn’t the most flattering at the hips. I do love your dress though 🙂

@KaleighMarie:  I’m not gonna lie, it seems to hit at a really odd spot on your body which makes youre torso look really short, and then goes out at a higher spot. it is possible it looks like way because it is the rong size? so will be better when it’s fitted to you?

I think that it is a stunning dress but that it would be more flattering altered into a sweetheart neckline and with a smaller sash. I think it also needs to be altered to fit better because it seems to be slipping down your waist – that kind of shape needs to be right on the true waist. It doesn’t make you look ‘fatter than you are’ at all though!

Without knowing what you look like in street clothes, it’s hard to say if it’s flattering. I do think changing the neckline to th sweetheart will really help tho.

Your dress is beautiful, and I can see from the photo that you have a wonderful figure.  That said, what I believe your family member is referring to is the fact that your dress has a very full, gathered waist, and that style of garment does tend to create a fuller silhouette.

Is it possible to have the alterations person remove some of the bulk and gathers from the skirt?  If so, you could consider having this done.  However, even if you are unable to change the silhouette of your dress, you will still look beautiful, and no one is ever going to look at you and think that you look fat.

It’s a great dress but I dont like what it it doing to your shape under the belt…it’s like there is too much fabric there and it is making you look bigger in that area. Maybe the alterations you are talking about will help with that part

I can tell that it doesn’t flatter you figure from the difference in the back and front picture.  From the back picture you can tell how skinny you are, but the front picture doesn’t highlight that because of the way the waist of the dress is.  It does add a little more to the middle section that I don’t think would do anyone justice.

You have a nice shape, but that dress doesn’t flatter it very much. Firstly, it seems to sit too low on your bust. Not like there’s too much cleavage, but it seems to be flattening your boobs down, making them look lower than they are. The way the waistline is makes you look like you don’t really have a waist.

Have you considered something with a structured bodice and a lower waistline that will give your torso contour? Like so:

There’s a photo knocking around of me in the dress I’ll be wearing, and it is HIDEOUS. Srsly, I won’t even post it up here. My point is though that I’m still going with it and now I couldn’t be happier with it! You just cannot trust *one* bad photo.

I agree that as is from that picture – which is only one angle – it flares out a lot from the hips but honestly I think that’s the belt giving the impression. A sweetheart neckline will shape you and a thinner belt will too. You could always convert to a corset back to really show off that waist!!

There’s no reason why you can’t have the dress you want, even if it needs adjusting. Don’t give up 😉 x
