It was amazing! I’ve been panicking about dress shopping because I really hate my body. Since I’ve been looking at more fitted silhouettes, I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to fit anything on because they wouldn’t fit over my thighs and hips. I almost cancelled my appointments for today because I am so ashamed of how I look.
I know I have a long way to go before these dresses look as good as they should, but the consultants at both shops I went to were incredibly kind and helpful. They never once mentioned my size or the sizes of any of the dresses. If the dresses didn’t do up, they found a way to fasten them so I could still get a sense of what the dress would look like. As it is, I now have four very different dresses that I absolutely love. I’ve got one more dress that I’d like to try on, and then I’ll be ready to make my final decision.
I’m trying to keep my dress as much of a surprise as possible, so I’d love to hear some feedback from impartial parties. What do you think of my options? Obviously, the clinginess through the hips and thighs will be alleviated by proper sizing and alterations.
Same comment applies to this dress.
I might add a little lace shruglette to this, creating a slight keyhole back. I would probably also alter the neckline to a sweetheart. This is the kind of dress I thought I’d wanted.
This took me completely by surprise. Although it’s hard to tell, it’s tea-length and obviously quite poofy, which was not what I thought I wanted. But there’s something whimsical and classic about it, and I sort of love it.
My wedding will be kind of a vintage garden party feeling, so I think any of the dresses would work. What do you all think? I’d really appreciate some honest feedback. Thank you!

Did you go to Jenny Packham? The second dress is stunning on you.

I’m loving the tea-length! 🙂

I love dress 2 and dress 4! They’re completely different styles, but both look amazing on you.

In order of my fav’s I like 2, 4, 1, 3. But if you are talking about altering 3 to the sweetheart, i’d like that more i think. I love 2 for the unique sleeves and 4 for the lace top part, 1 for the sparkle, and 3 for the sillouette.
If you add a poll and number the photos more people may respond too 🙂

Dress 4 for you! It looks so beautiful!

I love #3, #4 is really cute too but I’m just not a fan of the tea length dresses.
You should make a poll!

they are all so different. do you have a “look” that you wanted to achieve?
i like #4 the best, then #3. #1 is beautiful but looks like an evening gown for a pagent. if you don’t want to look bridal, i would pick that one.

Thank you, everyone! I’ve added a poll now. This is what the lace dress would look like wih a shruglette.

that being said, i like the last one the best. the lace at the top is so lovely.

Oh man, now I don’t know lol. Either the tea length or the lace one. Both are stunning! You just look sooo happy in the 4th dress, though.

I love number 3
The other 3 just seems to cover you rather than show off your lovely figure

Whoa, whoa, whoa… wait a minute. I was so excited about new dress pics that I totally missed you saying you’re ashamed of how you look. Not once did I think to myself, “Wow, that girl really needs a different dress!” or “Spanx, please!” Every dress looks beautiful on you and you can wear whatever you want. Please drop the self-loathing… I think we women are taught to find something wrong with our bodies and it’s all a lie. No more of that!
