And I’m not even engaged How dare me…
My bestfriend and I flew up there for a quick 2 day girls trip. My “budget” was 10k because I really wanted to try on Pnina’s for shits and giggles. When I scheduled my appointment I was suppose to pick my top 5 and bring it to the appointment. My sweet boyfriend was the one that printed it out for me, so before you yell at me, he was on board with it lol. While I knew there was no way in hell I would ever have a Pnina, there was one dress I really really wanted to try on. It was a Jim Hjelm dress and I FELL IN LOVE!! I know it is not “real” yet, but I have tried on about 8 dresses so far, so I know this is the one I want. My bestfriend even cried lol
Even though I do not have my ring yet, we have picked it out and we know where and when we are getting married. We are going to elope to Bora Bora and have our “wedding-moon”. The dress is a blush color, and it reminds me of a seashell. It is pretty much perfect. I came back to Georgia looking for the dress, and there is not a store in Ga that carries the dress. I am pretty upset about it, because when the time comes I won’t be able to show my bridesmaids and have that moment with all of them around. I talked to my SO about going to a trunk show in GA next month if they have the dress and buying it. He said that was okay, but now I’ve decided that I would rather just fly back up to NYC with the lady that is like my mom (my mom is deceased) and have my moment with just us. And my consultant at Kleinfeld was just awesome, I would really love to buy it from her!
I really don’t know my point of writing this, I just wanted to share. Now on to continuing to be a waiting bee…

Haha. I went to David’s Bridal when they were having one of their sales 3years before my Darling Husband proposed. Here’s the kicker, I actually bought a dress. Wore it on my wedding day too! haha.
That dress is gorgeous! Do you know when a proposal might happen?

That’s a beautiful, beautiful dress.<br />Also gald you had a good experience. I think a whole lot of girls go dress shopping and shop around for venues and such before they get the ring. So your fine. 🙂

That is awesome! Who says you need to be engaged to try on dresses? Love the dress!

Barely_Blush: That is what I planned on doing! But I am studying abroad in South Africa this summer and that’s when most of the trunk shows are so I don’t know when I would be able to travel to one if the one in GA doesn’t have the dress at theirs.
MrsWoods47: See, it happens!! Glad I’m not the only one. I thought I would get a lot of shit about “you are wasting their time” and so forth. The only thing I would be worried about is how far away it is and would I change my mind? I know the dress is perfect for me and I absolutely love it, but the wedding is still two years away. Did you have any feelings like that?
Well we picked out the ring in January and he was saving up for it. We are both full time students, and he is a full time retail manager. But recently he has come into thousands of dollars that just so happens to be the amount of my ring. So that definitely speeds it up. We are still waiting to hear back about his internship for the summer, but I am studying abroad and he has mentioned getting the ball rolling while I am gone. The ring will be custom and they said it could take up to two months so he said he has to plan accordingly. And we have several vacations planned for this summer so I am hoping during that time. Sorry this was so long lol
AdaLee: Thank you!
Anna10-05-2014: Thank you! I know I’m not the only one, but some of my friends look at me like I’m crazy. Our situation is just soooo different from theirs so they don’t really understand.
YesMissy: I was a little worried I would get flamed based on comments from other threads lol but I’m so glad I’m getting positive feedback and yall don’t think I’m crazy!

That is very pretty! I would buy it from the trunk show if they had it assuming it’d be cheaper than flying all the way back to NY.

ksn1219: That is an AMAZING dress!! It sounds like even though you don’t have the ring on your finger, you guys are engaged. You’ve already got the plans laid and your bf is on board so he’s obviously planning to officially propose soon. Good luck!

bitsybee: that is definitely the plan! I’ve already been thinking of ways to get my future sister in laws and mother in law up there so they can also be with me!
atreyu547: Thank you! If it’s not at the trunk show in Ga, the next option is driving to North Carolina or Florida. I fly free and so does my boyfriends family, so that’s why flying back up there is an option lol
ebarnes0: Thank you!! Since it will be a beach setting I love that it reminds me of a seashell! And my boyfriends mom is also deceased and her favorite thing in the world was seashells so it makes it that much more perfect!

ksn1219: I was really worried I was going to feel that way. I didn’t try on the dress again until after we were engaged, so I was worried it wouldn’t fit, or my style had changed, or something of the like. Exact opposite. I loved it even more. I cried so hard when I tried it on again. And I am not a crier over things like that.
Thats so exciting! And I love reading long responses. So don’t feel bad!
