Hey bees!
So while in on a trip last week, my Boyfriend or Best Friend and I made an appointment to see ovals and RBs at Tiffany’s. To be honest, though their rings are GORGEOUS, I wasn’t over impressed by the experience.
We decided to go here, as we were hoping they’d have a good selection of ovals/RB to look at and try in. We def plan to purchase elsewhere/online.
I was told that they only carry size 6 (as it is the most common size) in the store to try on. I am a size 7. I was kinda disappointed that I couldn’t get the real deal feel. In addition, they do not carry loose stones. All are preset in their custom settings (making it difficult to assess true color).
They didn’t have any colorless ovals at this store. My consultant showed us a fancy yellow oval, with a halo, carat weight 1.5…3 specs which I am not interested in (the yellow, the halo, and the size).
I really wanted to walk away looking at some oval solitaires. Looks like NYC’s D district will be my next stop.
I took some pictures of their Tiffany setting. It def is in the running if I don’t end up trying an oval soon, lol. My bf wants me to make up my mind like yesterday!
I’m a size 7 finger and would love at least a 2.5 center stone (solitaire or pave setting). Hands down, I love the 2.5! What do you lovely ladies think?

Although I am biased, I LOVE the Tiffany Setting! It suits your hand perfectly and will look even better once you get one in your size! Free lifetime cleaning, most large cities have a store. I have had a mostly great experience with them. I think the 2.5ct would be best.

@colorfulevidence: The 2.5 looks amazing on your hand! I would try the diamond district for sure before deciding on anything.
ETA we got my center stone from Blue Nile with great specs and its sparkles like its twice its size.
ETA #2 I might take back what I said about the diamond district lol

If you can afford it go big or go home!!! but both are very pretty its not about size but about the meaning of the ring!

NO NO NO. DO NOT GO TO THE NYC DIAMOND DISTRICT. They rip you off SO bad and some are not good quality. Some don’t even come with certificates!! SERIOUSLY.
http://www.bluenile.com is where I (and a lot of bees here) got my engagement ring diamond!! Good quality, GIA certified!!

@colorfulevidence: I like the smaller one, but thats just my taste. I wont be the one wearing it. If you like the bigger one and have the money for it, then go for it!

@Future_Mrs_C25978: Thank you for bringing me back to earth! Indeed you are most correct, that what’s most important is the meaning of the ring. I feel like I get so caught up in these online forums 🙁 I’ll be giving my “preferences” and will love whatever my honey blesses me with.

@MrsJenBee: Thank you for the heads up! I do believe my bf would like to get more bang for his buck, and we know that going online will provide us with such. right now I just need to physically try things on my hand and don’t want him to have to go through the process of ordering something online and returning it. I’m in phase “narrow down my preferences” 🙂
Is there anywhere in the district that you did appreciate their service and selection or what they have to offer/show you?

@colorfulevidence: My center stone is only a .5 but it has great specs! The center stone is from Blue Nile and the setting isnt. The first pic is a pro pic and the ring was a little dirty in the second pic.

@colorfulevidence: Hell no! They’re all extremely shady. It’s pretty much known all around and will do anything to lie, cheat and scam you. They’re really not reputable at all.
If you’re only trying on things, that’s fine. But don’t let them scam you into buying something there.
