This is only a semi serious rant but grrrrh!
All my life I’ve hated my name. I hate my first name, it’s not feminine or pretty at all and it’s sooooo common. But my last name is ridiculously uncommon. Outside of a handful of family members, I have literally never met or heard of another person with my surname. Not even on Google searches! And people mispronounce it all the time, despite it being ridiculously easy to spell and sound out.
Now I’m getting married and Fiance wants me to change my last name to his, but…..I hate his too. Lol. His last name sounds great with his first, and terrible with mine. Terrible. My first name ends in a vowel, and his surname begins in a vowel, and it just sounds all wrong
Plus, his surname sounds like a male first name, which I dislike. With my first, middle, and new surname, I’ll now have three first names!
Ex: Jessica Lynn Isaac.
(not the real names, but you get the idea)
Wahhhhh. Will I never get a good name? =[

Haha, you guys could go through past family trees and pick out a new last name from an older relative? I feel ya though sister. But it sounds like his last name is pretty normal. Normal beats out hard to pronounce any day of the week.
I’m still debating on changing my last name. I LOVE my name, and his last names just weird. And super long. And doesn’t look the way its pronounced. I’m thinking of either changing my last name to my 2nd middle name, or having double last names and just going by his socially. Haven’t decided, but want to have the same last name as future kids.
But I happen to love surnames at “boy names.” I would kill for the last name “James.” I think it sounds so elegant. I fancied myself a writer when I was younger and that was going to be my pen name. (and by younger, I mean when I attempted my first book at age 14) bahah.

Would you two be open to making a new last name for yourselves? Some couples do it.

No good advice, but I completely get how you are feeling. Maybe it will grow on you?

Ughh I know what you mean about his last name not sounding right with yours. That’s how I feel!
