Tried to buy 2 wedding dresses there (they ship to Holland) but the transaction wouldn’t go through because my billing address or whatever did not match. Tried 4 times and everytime, I had this message so I decided not to buy the dresses.
Then, I am told (by my Dad who received text messages from the bank) that I have been charged 4 times. I never got an order confirmation via email (nor online) from The Limited and heck, even now, those dresses are still in my shopping basket so it definitely didn’t go through. The Limited themselves also said they don’t have my order in the system.
Bank says the easiest way is to get the merchant to reverse the charge (alternative is I can dispute it but this takes 60 days 0_0 ). Contacted The Limited to solve this problem (their payment system is really sh***y. The whole system is- for example, it didn’t recognize certain signs in addresses like “/” or “#” etc.). They tell me they are not allowed to call/fax international numbers (i.e. the bank).
Uhm hello?! You cater to international customers but cannot cater to their needs? Why bother going international then?!
So here I am at 2.15a.m., feeling very iritated as I have to pay $400 for items I will never receive (as the order didn’t go through, even The Limited doesn’t have it so they are not even sending it to me and in any event, I do not even want those dresses anymore). Yes, I can dispute this but it will take time, I will have to pay the bill first and it will cost me a fee to dispute the charges. I have already called internationally (I’m in Europe and I had to call the US and Asia) a number of times. I can only imagine how many more hoops I have to jump just because they have a faulty payment system (obviously, they never hired software testers).

That’s horrible! Good reason not to deal with them. I’ve dealt with disputed payments before and it isn’t as horrible as it seems. All I had to do was fill out a form, send it in, and they refunded my money onto my CC in just over a month. I did have to front the money, but it was taken off eventually.
I would write an email to customer service and continue to share your experiences with others.

I think I know what happened….This sorta happend to me when I ordered my Bridesmaids dresses. I orded them from White House/Black Market (a total of 9 dresses may I add) and after the lady rang all the items up and processed the order she had to cancel all the transactions because she messed up the price. So all my bridesmaids had random/pending orders on their banking accounts, on top of a second transaction of the true price. So needless to say I was really frustrated and so where my Bridesmaid or Best Man because they thought they got charged twice. So I called and Called and what happens is the amount they charged you (4x) will fall off the bank statement in 2-4 business days (not including sat. and sun.) Since it was never “bought” and you never seen a confirmation that is most likey what will happen. So don’t stress….just tell your day the transactions will fall of in 2 -4 business days. IF it doesn’t then I would keep calling. Hope this helps 🙂

That’s what The Limited said, that these are pre-charges and will be gone in 2-3 days but my bank says these charges have been approved. *sigh*
I already wrote to Customer Service but while the lady I spoke to was quite nice, all that resulted was just me spending money on an intercontinental call (they are not allowed to make foreign calls or faxes so cannot contact my bank to reverse the charges). I find that ridiculous (as if you cater to international customers, you have to be prepared to solve international problems).
I’m going to hope that these charges will ‘expire’ after 2-4 days but will not know until end of next week and it’s during a major holiday period.

@redband: The preauthorizatrion has gone through on your account, but it will drop off in a few days. Normally what happens when you pay with a debit card is that you will see a preauthorization as soon as you swipe your card or click submit to submit a payment. The preauthorization is when the merchant verifies that you have the funds to pay for the item before they complete your order. It takes a few days to actually settle the transaction which is when the funds are taken from your bank account and deposited into the merchant’s account. At this point the preauthorization would drop off, and you would see the actual charge go through on your account. In your case because the transaction was never completed, you will see the preauthorization drop off, but there will be no charge after that.
ETA: The same thing happened to me when I bought my SO a pair of shoes online, the first 2 times I tried to place the order it said my billing address didn’t match, the 3rd time the payment went through. I had 3 preauthorizations come out of my bank account, 2 of them dropped off in 48 hours, and one went through as a charge.

The limited claims to ship to other countries. I am in Canada tried to prder online and also the same thing happened to me. It would not process my order said that the address did not add up. SO I called the customer serivice line to take my order. This was 2 buy 3 weddng dresses lol so maybe i was lucky it failed. I tried it over the phone then they told me my credit card was locked because I tried more than once to process it online. The girl assured me that the order would still be placed but that they would hold it and put it through in a few days when it would be able to clear. I got a confirmation orer # and everything. My card was not charged but I never got the items. I contacted them they said they would get back to me then I got an email saying the order could not be processed this was a month after placing the order and to try again. I would not waste my time ordering again but even when I looked my items were sold out anyways
