I’m starting to plan our wedding, and it is making me a little sad that I don’t have a female best friend. Don’t get me wrong I’m really happy to have a Man of Honor, and he’s a great friend. I guess when I envisioned planning my wedding it was with my best friend, and we would go dress shopping and flower shopping and talk about every detail. I do have two sisters who are in the wedding but they’re both in school, one lives 300+ miles away, and the other is on the other side of the country. Don’t get me wrong I’m super excited to get married and I know that this is a small insignificant part… I guess I’m just a little depressed about doing all the planning by myself, and not having a bridal shower or bachelorette party. Well I guess one plus is I don’t have any bridesmaid drama?

Aw Im sorry! I feel the same way too, exept my best friends like in different cities and we dont see each other much at all. Try and get your mom involed and female relatives, I know its not the same, but thats kinda what I have tried to do

I was with you as my sis was across the country while I planned a wedding. It’s hard, but you’ll get through and there will be no bridesmaid drama. That’s a total plus.

@HoneyBear: well my mom is flying up for her bday to go dress shopping, and gma decided it would be a fun trip so she’s flying in too. So I am really excited about that, it does put a little pressure on being efficient and getting stuff done in the short amount of time they’re here. My parents live 600 miles away, and I only see them 2 or 3 times a year. I tried to involve Future Mother-In-Law and her and I don’t mesh, despite her being completely uninterested in anything wedding realted.

Ummm, yeah, I wish I had guy friends. The ladies are way too much trouble.

@iRun2004: I’m with you. My best friend in the world is a guy and for a bunch of reasons we don’t see as much of each other as we used to. But we still keep in touch by phone, email and facebook. So my Maid/Matron of Honor is my longest girlfriend because even my second best friend is a guy! haha
It’s a shame though divergirl because I know my best guy friend would never hesitate to throw me a shower or go out for a night on the town for a last hurrah. He would definitely be “one of the girls” for me.

Man of Honor might be kinda cute though:). Sorry, I have a thing for tuxedos! Hey at least a catfight won’t break out between the Maid/Matron of Honor and whoever else. No hairpulling or slapping:). Sorry, just tryin to cheer you up! I really like the idea of Man of Honor, it’s really unique and like I said, another guy in a tux is alright with me! Oh and a man in a tux carrying a bouquet of roses..umm ya, definitely.:D. That’s nice!

I feel you on this one. While I do have a female bff, she lives 2 provinces away (comparable to 5 or 6 states in my case)–or 20+ hours away. Taking into account distance, finances, life etcetc, there is no way in hell either of us will be able to travel/visit before hand (unless one of us wins the lottery), which is uber lame.
I think not having lady drama will definitely be a bonus for you though.
