So I’m filling out our engagement announcement for the newspaper (I know, very late), and it’s basically all turned out like this.
(Bride’s parents) are please to announce the engagement of their daughter (Me) to (FI), son of the late (groom’s parents)
Bride is the granddaughter of (grandparents) and (grandparents). Groom is the grandson of the late (grandparents) and the late (grandparents).
I just feel so sad for my Fiance. I know this is very hard for him. His family has been gone for several years, but it still makes him sad to not have them there in person. His sister and extended family are coming, and I’m trying to include his sister as much as possible. But it just makes me so sad.

@Valerita: I’m so sorry, it must be so difficult to have so many special things happening without his parents and grandparents there to support him. I’m glad his extended family is pulling together!

That is really sad =( I’m glad his extended family is coming together and I’m glad he has such a nice bride by his side.

We’re in a very similar situation and it’s definitely hard. I’m so sorry you’re both going through this as well 🙁

Similar situation here except Fiance has just three family members left. One with Alzheimers who no longer recognises him and an uncle and aunt who live in another country whom we have minimal contact with.
Not going with the traditional brides side grooms side at ceremony for obvious reasons.
Our invites say we are inviting guests and there is no mention of parents or grand parents on them. I don’t think we will have a wedding announcement.
