Urgh.  That stinks!  Why is your boss leaving while everyone else has to stay?  Do as I say and not as I do????  WTF?  6pm on Christmas Eve?  I would hike out of there early if I were you.  Do you have time you can take off????

I would leave.  Honestly, I would just walk out after everyone else left.  If there is nothing that has to be done what does your boss want you to do?  Sit around twiddling your thumbs instead of spending time with your family?? That is ridiculous.

I have not always been known to do the right thing, but I would send an email to HR requesting they speak to the boss immediately. If that doesnt work, then I would send an email saying I will be leaving when the majority of the company leaves and if I am required I will take some unpaid time off for the 1/2 day.

@MsJ26: That is awful! And how hypocritical of her, making everyone stay but going home early. Good for you for leaving early–have a happy Xmas and hang in there!

@MsJ26: Some people just blow my mind.  If your boss isn’t even willing to stay how can she expect anyone else to?  I don’t think that’s right.

ETA: Good for you for going home!
