@bleusteel:  yes! I was just about to post those stupid sinks. Also the long rectangular shallow bowls.

@nerdybird:  I’ll have to think, but I disagree with some of yours.

The double sink – I actually didn’t want a single sink!  I have seen some small double sinks though.

LED lights – we just put some in under our cabinets.  I love this and they do come in different colours.  I would put them in the fridge if I needed to replace what’s in there currently.

Hands free – kinda, the ones where you just have to tap it so can turn it on with your wrist would be useful.

I completely agree about the waterfall shower!  We replaced both shower heads and I used a bucket to wash my hair for a while until we did.

SS – I’m indifferent.

@sangriiia:  electric stove tops! The coil ones look cheap,  and the glass ones are impossible to clean.  Not to mention I can never get an electric burner low enough to cook rice properly.

A message to everyone talking about shaving your legs in the shower

Why do you just sit down? Sit on the floor of the shower back to one wall and your foot up on the other wall….seems pretty simple to me. Unless you are super tall, maybe it would be hard if you were really tall.

In fact, I pretty regularly just sit down in my shower. I do NOT do mornings and am also very clumsy so in the mornings it’s just best if I sit down under the warm shower and wake up without the fear of slipping over.

Ack, I would never buy carpet period. Its so nasty (IMO). So much stuff gets in the carpet even if you dont wear your shoes in the house. Tons of dust!!

Scented crap because I’m allergic.

A fuzzy toilet seat cover and rug because those things are just super nasty!

A pedestal sink because there’s no place to hide anything, I’m stuck with one currently though.

I would never buy a house with…

-carpet unless I knew that the underlying floor was in a good shape. I hate carpet. When we bought our home all of the bedrooms had brand spanking new carpet and we ripped it out 2 days after moving in.

– carpet in the bathroom (ew!) or the kitchen. Though I hate carpet in general so 😛

-A bathroom covered in hideous tile. You know the pink and green and every other crazy color?

-Houses with tile all throughout

-I do hate the wall decal things, but they are easy to remove so it wouldn’t keep me from buying a house.

-a huge project. I don’t want to replace windows right after we move in or anything like that

-didn’t have a basement. This was a must-have for my DH, too.

-I really didn’t want an open layout. I know thats whats in these days, but I really don’t care for them that much.

-Double sinks in the bathroom. I HATE these. I just feel like I’m in a public restroom.

-Mold of any kind whatsoever. I don’t want to deal with having it removed and it can cause such serious health problems that I don’t want to be exposed to it at all.

I HATE electric stoves. HATE them. They’re all ugly and never work as well as gas, but alas we have a glasstop electric stove. It sucks, but we loved every other single thing about the house so we compromised on it. So hard to clean!

OP Its funny because I was trying to avoid houses with anything but stainless steel appliances and a double sink! I love them both lol. The stainless steel really isn’t that hard to clean at all.

I have a single sink in the kitchen and DH and I both absolutely despise it. We need a double so there’s a side for dirty dishes and a side for actually filling to wash them in. Our single sink is gross.

I wouldn’t buy a home was in such desperate need of an update that it would cost us a fortune. No funky carpets everywhere/wood paneling/pink 1950s bathrooms combos that would take us a lifetime to replace.

I also never use a tub, but I guess it’s nice to have if you need to wash kids or a dog or something…

I would never buy real hard wood floors because they scratch and dent far too easily.

I second the rain shower. Awesome spa like idea but, how do I avoid getting my hair wet?

im on the fence about double sinks Vs single. Both have pros and cons

@Everdeen:  I usually hike my leg up in the shower to shave and wouldn’t imagine sitting on the floor. Not that we are disgusting or anything, but it just kind of grosses me out.

Shower doors…had them growing up and they’re just grime collectors.

White tile grout…needs no explanation.  Any tile we have now is groutless.  🙂

Gas ranges with all the oven controls on the front.  All I do is lightly graze the front and I turn on the oven light, warming drawer, and self cleaning!!!

@Buckeyegirl:  But it’s the same as a bath! Unless you don’t clean the bottom of your shower?

@Miss Leopard:  Hmm…I painted only one wall in work office and I love how it looks! But I love accent walls, it has nothing to do with not having the guts to paint the whole thing. It is a design element.

@bmo88:  but if it’s clean and livable, it might be nice to pay less for a house and build a kitchen in something that’s your taste. I mean there’s no house – even if it’s redone – that is entirely my taste. I like the idea of redoing it the way I want to.
