@TKG83:  It works really well! I hate those hazy smoke-like rings you get on the burners. I am obsessed with cleaning my stove lol! The scraper gets all the gunk off!

Thought of some more:

No microwave

No plastic automated coffemaker. I don’t even understand the point of these when french presses take hardly any longer. And add no hot plastic to your beverage.

No plastic cutting boards… and not a lot of plastic, in general. If there is another option (such as wood, glass, etc.,) that’s going to be what I’ll choose.

No …whatever those machines are when you use a prepackaged highly processed coffee-flavored beverage individually-sealed cup to make a coffee-flavored beverage like your home was a workplace or something (don’t like them at work either). These give me the “???” face when I see them in a home.

If there’s tile doesn’t there have to be grout?  Or is it just white grout that’s the issue?

@BrandNewBride:  I was just logging in to comment about this!

We’ll absolutely never have a gas range in our home. I was already apprehensive about them prior to meeting Fiance, but I became adamant about it after we moved in together. Fiance was born without a sense of smell. We used to live in this tiny studio apt that was the only thing we could afford and…of course…it had a gas range. Fiance was all “oh, it’s great, it’ll cook so much better than electric!”

Yeah, until the day I came home to a leaking gas range and a passed out Fiance on the bed who “just felt really tired for no reason and decided to take a nap.” NO THANK YOU.

We’ll be having an electronic flat-top. I’m messy as hell when I cook and apparently I enjoy dumping stuff all over those little coils. 😛

(Other things I feel strongly about– front-loading washers, energy-efficient dishwashers, lack of dishwasher, lack of pantry, neighborhood electrical box in the front yard, poor water pressure.)

i would never buy a washer/dryer all-in-one combo.  you cannot open the door to take out items that you don’t want dried.  it goes right from wash to dry.  hate them.  oh, and they are so small.

i also don’t like corner cupboards in the kitchen.  biggest pet peeve.  they are like the black hole.  i prefer to utilize the corner with a small walk-in pantry.

@AnaA:  That’s what a large chunk of any money I get goes to – books. I love my collection and couldn’t part with any of them!

@Everdeen:  Ha! I have those but I bought them cheap from Target so if I have to trash them I am okay with it!

If I had kids though I would not have even considered purchasing them!

All of our living room furniture will be real, shiny leather.  Not fabric, and absolutely not microsuede.  I would feel like it was never, ever clean otherwise.  Plus, I love how slippery leather is.  I hate feeling like I’m sticking to the sofa and having all my clothes rucked up.  I’ll also never get a car with fabric upholstery for the same reasons.

I also really, really dislike granite countertops.  I don’t like that they’re always ice-cold, that you need special cleaning products but they still don’t look clean, and the idea of setting a glass down on a granite countertop sets my teeth on edge.  Laminate all the way!

And I’m glad everybody seems to hate grout as much as I do!  Our apartment’s bathroom is tiled with 1″ tiles, so there’s almost more grout on the floor than tile.  I don’t know what color it started out as back in the 60s, but it’s nasty black now.  Completely unsalvagable, so I just steam it weekly to keep it clean and try not to look at it otherwise.

Gas stove = WAAAAY better than electric coils or glass-top.

@Miss Leopard:  I agree with you, Miss Leopard. If someone is offended because you called vinyl wall decals “A Nicholas Sparks Novel” (which made me laugh) then that person needs to grow a thicker skin and go with what they like, and let you go with what you like. Eggshells, much?

I despise faucets in bathroom sinks that are so shallow you can hardly get your hands under the water flow!

Electric Stove – Despise

Wall Decals – Despise, actually pretty much all Word centric art annoys me…

In ground pool – SO MUCH WORK, I’ll go to the beach thank you

Above the counter bowl sinks – total PITA to clean

Recessed lighting everywhere – I don’t get why people like this?

Granite everywhere – Again PITA to clean, I think we’ll go Quartz when we reno the kitchen

Our fridge is stainless and I don’t find it hard to keep clean. Of course we are currently sans dog/children

@BrandNewBride:  I love gas stoves! That was one of my musts for our house. I just feel like it’s easier to cook on them and the food tastes better. Plus, if you have a blackout you can still cook on the stove! I’ve always had a gas range, so maybe that’s why they don’t scare me. We’ve never had an incident.

I’ll add wallpaper to the mix. Hate it. There are some out there that are tastefully done, but for the most part, I’d rip it down immediately if our next home has it. It also worries me, b/c some people use it to disguise a bad wall. For example, my mom’s house has a less than perfect wall in the kitchen. I don’t know exactly if there’s a crack in it, or it’s lumpy, or what the case is. But she uses wallpaper to disguise it b/c she claims that she can’t paint it.
