So I’ve been thinking about wedding desserts today.. I don’t really like cake all that much (meh, frosting). Fiance wants a small cake for us to cut, but otherwise doesn’t care, so here’s what I’m thinking!
I want to do an ice cream “bar” and just get stuff from the grocery store: ice cream sandwiches, those cones with nuts on top, orange push-pops, maybe those little Ben & Jerry’s mini cups of ice cream.. What do you guys think? I have to check with the venue first on this, but I’d assume since it’s okay to bring a wedding cake, it would be okay to bring ice cream.
I liked the idea because it’s more laidback and silly like we are, and it’s a bit of a throwback to our childhoods…and because I really love orange push-pops.
I figured maybe I could talk to HEB (grocery store) and see if they could get a couple of cases of those sort of things together for us so we can just pick them up and take them to our venue.

Yes yes I want some ice cream now!

Yes! Ice cream is my favourite! You should see if you can also get the tiny servings of Haagen Dazs. So good!

Sounds delicious. I actually looked into getting a DQ grooms cake and figured along the same lines – we’re allowed to bring cake, why not icecream cake? They were fine with us having it on site, but said they didn’t have freezer space where it could be stored, and I wasn’t cool with having to have somebody leave the wedding to pick it up.
If you have a way around it melting before you get to enjoy it, I think it’s a great idea!

I think it’s a great idea! If you are having it catered they might be able to get a better price for you, if you live near a costco or sams club you can buy it in larger quantities or even a smart and final- and those don’t require membership.

@Phofe2774: That’s a fantastic idea! I have an extra member’s card to Sam’s Club under my mom’s membership and I didn’t even think of that! Thank you so much 🙂

A lot venues where I am, offer an ice cream bar, as a package option. It’s common here and VERY delish!
