Hi bees- Fiance and I are going to have an ice cream sundae bar at our wedding (instead of a cake). We’re REALLY excited! 😀
Right now we’re brainstorming which toppings to include. Can you tell me your favorite sundae toppings? Thanks!

hot fudge (not chocolate sauce), pecans, maraschino cherries, sprinkles (the round kind, jimmies are gross) and whipped cream. I’m pretty basic I guess. But easily you could add to that butterscotch/caramel, marshmallow creme, crushed cookies of various kinds but especially oreos, strawberries (I personally won’t put any other fruits on my sundaes), other nuts, broken candy (think reeses), marshmallows… Oh, and why not get some cake anyway, like pound cake cubes – they’d be awesome with the strawberries.
By The Way, can I crash your wedding?

sambaty4 : I like banan slices, chopped peanuts, a little bit of caramel syrup and maraschino cherries with plain vanilla ice cream. I don’t like mixing candy sprinkles or other candies or chocolate bars.

Oh wow. This is fab! I’d love to go to a wedding with this. My favs are whipped cream, toffee/caramel type sauces. And things like chocolate flakes, buttons, nutty things.

Mine really depends on my mood. I really like chocolate, carmel, and nuts together or strawberry sauce and marshmallow sauce together. Those are more basic options in my mind. If I’m really feeling adventurous I like crushed oreo and mini m&ms.

Also, I am curious: do you plan on having the sundae bar only open for a short time or how do you plan on keeping the icecream frozen enough?

I love this idea! As someone with a lactose sensitivity and really shouldn’t eat ice cream, be sure to have something available for those of us who can’t eat a sundae. 🙂

I like caramel or mashmellow cream, banana slices, and maraschino cherries

Thanks for all of these great ideas!
Swebs14 – that’s a good question but I’m not sure! My caterer is handling all the details.
ljm308 – good point. I’m planning to wait until all my RSVPs are back to see how may lactose intolerant guests I have before adding another option.

sambaty4 : Warm caramel, warm dark chocolate, maraschino cherries. Oh yes, sometimes warm pineapple chunks (not with the cherries though). 😉

Bits of cake, strawberry sauce and sliced berries – like a strawberry shortcake is my favorite.
But also chopped candy, like Reese’s pb cups, snickers, Twix, Heath. And hot fudge. And caramel. And bits of brownies.
Droooool. Like a previous posters, I gave up sweet treats for Lent and I really miss this tasty junk!!
