I’m having an outdoor ceremony at a mansion at 1:30 pm on July 16,2016. I’m hoping the weather works out. Anyways my fiancé and I absolutely love and are obsessed with ice cream. I wanted to do an ice cream bar at my venue and get it catered from a ice cream shop here but my venue doesn’t allow outside food or drink so they said they could possibly do an ice cream bar they make. Which I’m guessing will be expensive and fancy since that’s the style of our venue. I saw an ice cream truck parked outside my work and found out they do events. What do you think of offering my guests a single scoop sugar cone with a choice of like 20 flavours before or after the outside ceremony? Would you like or hate this? Would you do it before the ceremony or after? Any problems you could see?

I love the idea. I think it would be better after the ceremony. My only concern is the line/wait time. I think cutting down flavors would make service more efficient.

Is your ceremony at the same place as the reception? If so, if they already said no to outside food once, bringing in an ice cream truck probably won’t be allowed either.
Personally, if you’re doing a fancy wedding, a commercial ice cream truck would take away from the formality for me, but it’s not necessarily a bad idea. If you were do to it, absolutely do it after the ceremony — I would not want to risk spilling ice cream on my fancy clothes pre-ceremony!

They’re at different locations with a gap in between. Gaps are normal and expected here!

I would rather have it after the ceremony instead of before. Having it out befor, peope make be distracted by their ice cream to pay much attention to the ceremony. As a guest I would like to have a nice ice cream treat durning the cocktail hour while everyone else is doing photos.

Both! Before and after. Can I come? lol
Seriously I would do before- because some people will be going to get pictures taken and can’t wait for ice-cream. If you do it after, all the guests will be leaving the ceremony at once whereas if you do it before, people will be arriving in smaller groups & there won’t be long wait times. Plus it adds a cheerful sense of whimsy to add to the festive mood as guests arrive, because let’s face it, who wouldn’t love to be unexpectedly treated to ice cream when they show up for the ceremony?

I love that idea! Ice cream after the ceremony would be a lovely treat. I’d have fun chatting about the ceremony with other guests while waiting in line and enjoying my ice cream!

I would do it after the ceremony since there’s going to be a gap.

I pick after too. That way people can pass the time by leisurely getting their ice cream during the gap. What a fun idea!

Are you having a cocktail hour? In my mind, ice cream and booze don’t mix well before eating & dancing all night. But I do enjoy the thought of icecream after a ceremoney.

I would serve the ice cream after the wedding. For a 1:30 ceremony, your guests will barely have finished lunch, so may not want to eat again so soon.

I think it sounds great, but after 🙂

Sounds fun. I vote for after the ceremony as well.

Sounds yummy. But I definitely say after!
