syo567 :  you can have all the guests come outside (announced by your DJ, assuming you’re having one) when the truck arrives. I personally would make it my later-night snack.

syo567 :  hehe i think you mean your wedding photos, since by cocktail hour you won’t be ‘engaged’ anymore if all goes to plan. 😉

assuming it’s a dinner reception, and not lunch, keep in mind it may be dark by the time they’re ready for dessert.  So long as that doesn’t bother you, do what PP said and just make an announcement for them to go outside for ice cream.

Another option that may work better would be if you find someone has has one of those ice cream carts they can push while walking/biking.. that may be small enough the venue would let them bring it inside to the people.

We did this at our elopement celebration. We had it come after dinner, the truck had all kind of lights on it so don’t worry about it being dark. It pulled right up to the patio and served people right there. The DJ just announced the ice cream truck had arrived and grown adults were losing their shit with excitement lmao. I’m sooo glad we hired them!

There aren’t enough details or periods in your post. What time is your ceremony, and what time is cocktail hour? Are you hosting dinner? Can you have the ice cream truck as dessert, or as a late-night snack? Will your venue allow it? How many hours do you have your photographer for?

i LOVE the idea of an ice cream truck, you could do it at the very end of the night as a farewell kinda thing, or maybe even sometime in the middle of the reception after the important dances and speeches..

Could you possibly do it within the cocktail hour time? Like a hey, before you head upstairs, come see what’s outside! And then maybe you and the groom could grab your own ice cream before heading into the reception?

i have been to a lot of weddings and only one wedding where there was too much appetizer.

especially when it is passed, people standing right where the food comes out usually get the most.  the people at the far end mingling, get little or none.

but at the same time, i probably wouldn’t want ice cream before dinner.

The ice cream truck idea sounds awesome! I think the best would be right after dinner.
