I am getting married in Iceland in September too! Are you guys going through a wedding planner or just planning yourselves?

amberchrisler:  We have looked at wedding planners and are currently debating due to cost and how simple we want things.. did you get a planner?

Hi,

I’m eloping to Iceland (July) and we have hired a wedding planner. We’ve hired Sigga from Pink Iceland and she has been so amazing! We’ve left it to what some may call “last minute” but she has been to helpful, especially in terms of organising where to have the ceremony, as we’re having it outdoors and the locations were limitless, but she listened to everything we were after, looked at all the photos I loveed of Iceland and gave us a short list to pick from.

I highly recommend her, she’s been so great to work with and planning an elopement from the other side of the world (literally) has been such a breeze!

Congratulations! Iceland is one of my very favourite places, and your photos will be STUNNING.

Re: timeline…we had a destination wedding (Disney Cruise to Alaska) and our timeline was about 2 years of planning, which was partly financial (on our part and for our guests) and partly for booking that many cabins in July…Our guests came for a one week cruise and we stayed onboard for a second week, sort of a honeymoon I guess. I’m not sure what your timing is like, but we loved having everyone around for a week and then LOVED having the next week to ourselves to decompress, I’m definitely glad we were able to add that time; it’s tempting to say ‘well this is like the honeymoon b/c we are travelling,’ but even if you just have a few days to add on your own, I would try to do it!

misspix:  My DH has been to Iceland twice and absolutely loves it. At what time of the year were you planning on going?

How many people will be travelling with you? (or is it just the two of you?)
