I LOVE it in Iceland!  I’ve been twice now and one day my husband and I would like to do a vow renewal there.  πŸ™‚  It’s absolutely gorgeous!  Wanna see my pics?  There are a lot… I have to warn you.

@Odess:  Neither of us has been but we’ve both wanted to go, it just seemed perfect for us. Small and geologically interesting and over-the-top picturesque for our wedding photos. πŸ™‚

This is more scenery then Reykjavik, but I’d definitely recommend getting out and touring places outside of Reykjavik!  The city is pretty and definitely fun if you like bar hopping and clubbing (and fun architect and shopping of course), but there is SO much more to Iceland!  I didn’t get out of Reykjavik my first trip there, but I did my 2nd trip and it just blew my mind with the vast differences in landscape and the sheer beauty!

Oh and I loved the Blue Lagoon and would highly recommend it.  πŸ˜€

This one is from my first time in Iceland where I just saw the city itself:

Jealous!! I spent a 2-night layover in Iceland staying at the youth hostel — would LOVE to go there for a real vacation, just got a little taste while I was there! Enjoy!!

The last trip I went on was end of October/beginning of November.  I’d recommend layers, because I found that indoors, I would get warm and be happy that I had on a short sleeve shirt, but outside it was pretty cold and at times snowing!  I was glad I had gloves and a scarf/hat as well.

How much time are you going to have there?  And THANK YOU!  I love taking pictures of beautiful places!  πŸ˜€

O how cool! Iceland is on our list but we haven’t been yet. What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. People are going to love hearing about it. It’s so different and cool.

Sorry I’m no help….just drooling πŸ™‚

That sounds like a fabulous honeymoon! I haven’t been, but my sister and BIL went back in 2007 or 2008 (I don’t remember anymore).  They loved Iceland! I know they went to a geothermal spring, an ice bar (like literally everything was made of ice), and trekked up to a glacier. They had some beautiful photos!

So, I’m really no help, but I’m excited for you! πŸ™‚

Iceland is on my bucket list.  I love the cold, hate the hot, so this is perfect!

Iceland is awesome – I definitely recommend it!   I went in March, so I can’t answer to the weather in October/November, but I imagine it wouldn’t be terribly different.  It was cold and dark a lot but not insufferably cold so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Definitely take some day tours to get out of Reykjavik – I can’t remember the name of the tours we did, but we hit up some geysers, a massive frozen waterfall, and the place where the European and North American tectonic plates meet (geeky I know, but the landscape there was so cool and we were literally standing on a floating piece of rock).   There were some other tours that went a bit further east and checked out some volcanoes but we didn’t have a chance to do those.

Sorry, that didn’t provide any specific info but the bottom line is to definitely look at getting out of Reykjavik on some day trips as that is where you will see the true beauty of Iceland.

Ah yes, the Blue Lagoon is also well worth a visit!  And they have it set up beautifully so you strip down to your swimwear in a nice, warm changing room and get in the water inside a heated building, then go through a little transition area to take you outside, so no worry about having to get in/out of water in a bikini in freezing weather!  It was snowing when we were there and it was the coolest thing ever with the steam rising from the blue water, the black volcanic rock around, and the slate gray skies.  Just gorgeous and my favourite thing there.

Also, I’m not sure about now as I was there in 2007, but it was ridiculously expensive when I was there…. and I was living in the UK so I was travelling on the British pound, which should have made things cheaper, but it wasn’t.  Not sure about now though.

Have a great time – it’s an amazing place!
