In a French restaurant, on Valentine’s Day. Sickening, I know.

We are both outdoorsy people who especially love hiking. He proposed on a Saturday morning at a secluded little waterfall near Solvang, CA which we had visited on numerous prior occasions. It’s our little getaway when we need some R&R.

This is the waterfall, but not the day he proposed:

All of these engagement stories are great!

@MrsR4ever:  How sweet! Love this!

@mrsedwardslpn:  I love this thread! Cute proposal story. 🙂

@sealevels:  That’s so funny and just super cute! Love that he had the video glasses, and had it all recorded! I had to LOL when you said he was an Aquarius (I am an Aquarias well and embrace my “weird” side- hehe).

Here’s my story:

Every summer we take a roadtrip.  My Fiance popped the question while we were vacationing in Traverse City, Michigan, on August 12, 2011.  After a very long day of site seeing, doing a dune climb through the Sleeping Bear Dunes, riding the waves on a jet ski, and shopping at the Grand Traverse Mall, he decided that we should take a nice walk along the waterfront and watch the sunset.  We walked along the docks, then came to a perfect spot that was overlooking the lakefront.  We both sat down to rest and to just take in the view.  We began talking about how we were both having such a nice time and how we would like to come back to Traverse City in the future, etc.  He gave me a hug while sitting there and asked me, “So, what are you doing for the rest of your life?” I said, “Loving you, of course.”  This didn’t alarm me, because we would often talk about the future like this, but THEN he asked me to stand up and give him a big hug…and when I did, he dropped down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me, babe?” He pulled out this box and opened it…and it lit up! There was a bright LED light inside the box and light the box up for me to see my dream engagement ring! I was so excited that I could barely even speak and cried like a baby, while saying “Yes!” It was perfect! Laughing

It was New Year’s Eve (our 6th anniversary), he insisted that we go for a walk to spend some time alone together before a party he was having at his place.

*I didn’t want to go because it was cold*

So we get to this lake and he gives me a card for our anniversary, I felt bad because I hadn’t gotten him anything (we’re usually pretty chill when it comes to celebrating things).

After I read the card, he said, “That’s not all,” and he got down on one knee and proposed 🙂

It was so unexpected, and I just kept shouting “You’re Crazy! You’re Crazy” Lol

Of course, we had been talking about marriage forever and I knew he was going to propose, I just had no idea when and it really wasn’t on my mind that day.

Oh I love telling this story!

My Fiance and I are very big nerds so when we found out that Wizard World Comic Con was making its way to our home town we immediately bought tickets. We also took a look at the guest list and I expressed my excitement that actress Eliza Dushku was going to be there. Without my knowledge, Fiance bought a photo op with her, and told me the day of. I was slightly annoyed because it is really expensive to have a photo op with a celebrity, but I decided to drop it. When we got there I was very tired and cranky, the man in front of us was very strange, and the people who were running the Con kept saying things like, “No hugging, no inappropriate touching, no biting, ect.”

Finally we got into the area where you get the photos taken and they instructed us to stand on either side of her. I did as I was told, and was looking forward when I heard Eliza say, “Not another one!” I look over, and Fiance is on one knee. It didn’t sink in, all I was thinking was, “They told us not be be weird, you’re going to get us kicked out!” Then he pulled out the ring and I finally realized what was happening, I kept repeating, “Oh my god!” I finally calmed down enough for him to ask me to marry him and of course I said yes!

Here are some of the many photos we got from the day, and Eliza even signed one for us:

Oh and later on in the day Patrick Stewart walked by and congratulated us! It was so cool!

@MissComicBook: That is the most awesome story ever. +1 billion!

My Fiance proposed here:

Gorgeous bed and breakfast. We went to dinner that night. Fiance had planned the whole thing ahead of time with the B&B staff. So when we came back from dinner, the room was covered in rose petals and the hot tub was filled up with a chilled bottle of champagne next to it. Classical music was piping in from some hidden part of the room. I was floored. And Fiance dropped down on one knee, pulled out the ring box, said some very sweet things (that I can’t for the life of me remember now!) and asked me to marry him. It was lovely 🙂

@Happy_luv:  Thank you, I can’t believe he did it this way! The worst part is, we live together and he managed to hide the ring from me. I was playing with the pocket it was in while we waited in line and didn’t even know it!

We went to hawaii for feb. last year. gosh it seems longer than that. we went for a hike up to the lighthouse. when we got up there it was almost sunset and everyone had cleared out. he got down on one knee and asked. :):) it was dark by the time we left and we were afraid they were going to shut the gate and we would be stuck there. lol. so we kinda hurried down. but on the way there was lightening. but thats the lighthouse in the day time. you are more above it than at it. and that pic was taken right after!! phone and camera went dead while we were up there.

He proposed on the Empire state building. I was actually silently mad at him beforehand because he was gone from dinner for 45 minutes… he was asking my Dad for permission lol. It was our first road trip together and he told me A handfull of times during the trip to do not expect a proposal, that I needed to focus on the trip and he didnt want me to be dissapponted afterwards. Hehe I really dis not expect it!
