I thought our engagement length was perfect – almost exactly a year!

We got engaged on November 25 and getting married at a little under a year engagement. I think it was just the perfect time! Enough to plan, save money, buy house, etc.

we’ve been engaged for 20 months – the total length of our engagement is/will be 23 months. if i could do it all over again, i’d keep it the same. two years sounds like a long time (and it is!), but it really gave us a butt-ton of time to enjoy it. i’ve been riding the “omg, you’re getting married!? that’s so awesome!” wave for the last almost two years, and it’s great! it’s also given us a lot of time to plan every single little thing out. and when i started getting overwhelmed, i wasn’t ever in any kind of time crunch, so i could take a week or two off or even a whole month or two from wedding planning without being stressed out. i’m definitley pro long engagements.

We had a year which I think is a good amount of time if you start planning right away. But we got engaged in Nov and my mom didnt even want to talk about the wedding until after christmas (because she can’t think about 2 things) I wish we had more time of planning like a year of planning is perfect.

Mine was ten months and I thought that was plenty long.  We had lots of time to plan our whole wedding including a few months where we had nothing to do or think about.  I do not think I could have an engagement that lasted over a year though – way more time than needed to plan and you have to endure constant questions about why you’re waiting so long (and I wouldn’t be able to give a good answer).  I’d prefer to just not be engaged yet.  Anything over a year is too long, IMO.

I’d say about 10 months. That is long enough to not be rushed trying to book a venue or get a dress (if you’re quick about it), but not too long. My engagement is 16 months and it is TOO LONG. lol

Ours is 20 months or so which I think is a little long (gets frustrating!), but I’d still have a 1 year + engagement – we booked our venue in June and it was already booked for half the weekends we were looking at.  When we started looking at photographers, one we loved was already booked 12-13 months out.  People are way too punctual around here!

I would keep it the way I have it, which is a year and a week. (Dec. 25, 2009-Jan.1,2011)

I would keep ours the same. When we get married it will be a day short of a year. I had enough time to do everything and enjoy being engaged!
