monkeycrawl9:  After putting the cat in the other room and mopping the floor/cleaning the counters, I would make picnic/cookout food and if it’s nice where you are, eat outside. You can have an indoor picnic as well. Make sizzleburgers (ground beef hamburgers indoors in a skillet – mix a little ketchup and mustard, some cut up yellow onions in with the meat, make patties, cook in butter and worchestire sauce. Don’t press down on the burgers too much while cooking so you don’t lose the juices. For the children (if young), top burger on bun with a slice of American cheese with a cute face stencil cut out a la pinterest).

For sides, you could make sweet potato fries, and a tossed green salad or a cucumber vinaigrette salad. For dessert, for the adults  some fresh cherries and some biscotti or a store bought angel food cake with some berries. The kids if young might prefer instant chocolate fudge pudding that you make from the instant box and whisk with cold milk and top with cool whip and chocolate chips) or a four cup salad with mandarin oranges, bananas, green grapes and miniature marshmallows.

By the way you should not have to clean the kitchen but I would bite the bullet and do it for me and DH. If you are near a store with healthy products such as Target, they have a three dollar all purpose cleaner by the brand Method in a pink grapefruit scent that’s light and healthy so it will actually make the cleaning pleasant,
