- Wedding: October 2014
My fiance and I are going to be eloping later this year and having our wedding next year due to immigration issues. Our families and friends are aware of this and fully support our decision. Because our families live on opposite sides of the US and Canada, we’ve decided to elope on vacation, just the two of us so one family doesn’t feel we’re favoring the other. We’ve settled on a weekday morning to elope to minimize the cost of eloping and it’s a less popular time.
We’ll be in a small town where we’ll be moving to look at houses that week. It’s about an hour from Toronto, but we don’t want to deal with the traffic and parking hassles. We won’t be looking at any houses that day – we agreed to just get married and not focus on business that day
Afterwards we’ve discussed going out to lunch to celebrate and we’ve talked about possibly going to an art gallery and picking out a small piece to commemorate the day and put in our future home together. Since it’s early in the day, I doubt we’ll necessarily feel like returning to our hotel for the night until closer to evening time. I thought of trying to find a movie to see, but that doesn’t seem very special & there isn’t anything projected for our vacation time that really appeals. I’ve thought of maybe going to a cupcake shop and having a celebratory cupcake, but that’s a half hour sort of thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do besides elope, have lunch, and maybe hit an art gallery?
