I’ve just started looking for engagement ring ideas since my boyfriend recently asked me about what style I would like. I’ve been engaged before and didn’t have the chance to give any input on my e-ring so I’m loving the idea of looking for that “perfect” ring.
I know for sure I want a halo setting. I’ve been leaning towards the emerald cut but radiant still comes to mind too. Can you tell I like the rectangle shape?
I’ve seen split shanks (which are so pretty) but I haven’t seen too many split shanks with diamonds in the middle of the shank. I’ve even drawn out some sketches to see maybe how an extra trapezoid or tapered baguette may look. Anyone on here have pics or have that for your ring?
I’d love to hear your thoughts and see pictures.

@cpmh: Your description kind of made me think of my 1st engagement ring…an Asscher cut sapphire & diamonds in platinum.

I just tried this one one the other day, with a round center though. Kind of sounds like something you might like? Its not for an emerald cut, but here is the link…http://www.shaneco.com/Catalog/MyBuiltItem.aspx?X=41045628&XS=953842

@cpmh: Play around with Blue Nile. They have tons of settings as well as you can figure out what loose diamond you can get for the price range your Fiance gives you.
You can control which of the 4Cs is most important to you, etc.
I’m leaning towards a radiant diamond personally. They’re so sparkly and they actually seem to cost a lot less than other cuts. Makes a big difference since we are considering buying a very good quality 2 ct.
Edit: Check out this thread of radiant rings – there’s some split shanks and halos you can see for ideas: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/anyone-have-pictures-on-your-hand-of-radiant-cut-ring

Ring shopping can be so overwhelming.. Too many choices! lol Have you thought about taking your sketch to a jeweler so they can make or add too something they already have?
Ive played on Bluenile but what im going to do is go try stuff on to see what really works, I have long skinny fingers.. One thing I do know is Im partial to simple bands so all eyes on the stone. he he

So much fun to look at all these rings! This is not a split shank but I LOVE it because it’s a halo, it has sidestones and it also has baguettes which are not common with a halo. LOVE IT! It’s from ShaneCo:

Mine is a solitare, no halo, but it’s a radiant, split shank (micropave).

Thank you so much for sharing a picture of your ring. Add a halo and that could be my ring! So pretty!
Oh I like this picture a lot! That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards. Thank you for sharing this frugalfiance!
Yes, great idea for bluenile. I’ve gone on that website before and it is so addictive to play around with the different settings. I’ll check it out again. The one thing I’ve noticed is that seeing a design in person really makes a difference. Thank you for the advice and thanks for sharing the thread of radiant ideas!
@jessandnick: Thanks jessandnick! I love this picture and is totally similar to asscherlover’s pic too. Definitely the look I was going for. Now switch it to a radiant or emerald and I think I’ve got my ring.
@asscherlover: asscherlover, you nailed it! Gorgeous ring!!!
You ladies have totally helped, thank you! I’ll post some pictures of what I find. Keep your ideas and opinions coming!
