What does he like to do besides sports? Does he have any hobbies that you can support? One year I got my fiance a membership to a woodworking studio because that’s something he’s wanted to get back into doing for a while, and he really liked that. If he’s the kind of person to dress up occasionally, a really nice watch is also a great option– you can write a cute note about all of the all of the “times” he’s been there for you, and all of the “time” you plan to spend together in the future.

As far as tradition goes, it’s paper anniversary, or it is clock according to modern anniversaries. You could get him an amazing watch. You could print out the lyrics to your wedding song and frame it. For paper, you could get him tickets to something. Is there a band or concert playing that you could bu tickets to take him out on a date night?

I’m so sorry to hear what a rough whirlwind of a year you’ve had! Sounds like you have a great catch on your hands and with his work ethic, supporting personality, and willingness to put his life upside down for you and your family, I think he will make an amazing dad! Best of luck bee!

stefano101 :  It’s the “paper anniversary.”  I would create a scrapbook with each page being a reason  you love him.  I.e., For being there with my mom, For helping out with my dad, For always being there for me, For putting your needs second, etc.  And either have pictures of you or pictures of landscapes, etc.  And have it titled in the front Reasons I love you.

Maybe a limo ride to the airport. Lounge passes and upgraded seats on the plane?

Is there something cool to do in Boston? Like a tickets for a helicopter ride or a behind the scenes tour of a sports arena? I looked it up and there’s a brewery tour you can do there. I’m sure the time away with you is going to be a wonderful gift in itself 🙂

So sorry to hear about your Mum. Mine passed away just before we got engaged X

This was a really moving post, you sound like an incredible couple. Maybe it’s not “wow” but write him a letter describing how much this past year together has meant to you? It was an emotional read for me, Internet stranger, so I bet it would mean a lot to him! That, plus an amazing dinner (I’m sure Boston bees have some ideas there) would be a great gift.

Wow, what a year and what a great guy you have! I’m so sorry for everything you went through. Check this out…you can do a bound book of everything you love about him.

My husband would gag if I gave him a soppy book about how much I love him.  I’d gag too, actually.  Is that something he’d be interested in?  Obviously it’s dependent on the person.

It sounds like a busy, hectic but successful year.  What about a full-day’s date, just the two of you?  Paper anniversary = breakfast in bed, movie tickets, a book signed by an author he loves, an intimate massage (from you, not a masseuse), a nice homemade dinner together – paper wrapped salmon was suggested to me and my husband absolutely loved it with modifications (tuna and more of a southwest flair).  Sure it’s not something that has physical value, but emotionally there’s plenty there without being too soppy for some guys.
