My daughter is getting married this summer. Her grandparents want to give them a special gift to remember them by–one that will last and possibly become an heirloom. One idea they had was a wooden rocking chair. Does anyone have other ideas? Thanks.

Something that is already a a precious heirloom to them is probably better than something store bought.
I asked for NO presents and meant it, but i was thrilled to receive my late Grandma’s crystal and linens from my aunt. She also gave me a bunch of money that I’m going to use to have a china cabinet built so that I can display them.

Do they have any beautiful photo frames in their home? Or a piece of jewelry that grandma or grandpa wore to their wedding/special occasion that she can pin to her dress and pass that tradition on to all the brides in the family? I agree with @Melini: that something that already has sentimental meaning would be best.
A nice rocker does sound good though, something beautiful that can be used to rock little babies to sleep later and tell them stories about their great-grandparents 🙂

I love the idea of a rocking chair! That will last forever, and can be put in a future nursery, or out on the porch on a nice day. Whenever she uses it she will think of them. Very sweet thought.
