Does anyone have any ideas for what my 12 year old nephew can do in my wedding? I’m only having my sister as my matron of honor and my guy will only have his best man. My sister expressed that he would probably prefer to be a junior groomsman, but I don’t have another young girl to balance it out and I’m kind of particular about balance. (I’m a little OCD about those things.) Since our guest list is small and heavily weighted toward my family and friends (again a balance thing!) we aren’t going to do the sides of the chapel thing. I was thinking of having him be an usher and let him sit the mothers and grandmothers which I’m sure they would love. I already have his sisters as the ring bearer and flower girl. I don’t want him to be left out. Anyone have any other ideas?
Edited to put my nephew’s correct age- 12 not 10!

Are you having programs? He could hand those out.
He could sit near the guestbook table and remind people to sign.

I am having my 10 yr old nephew usher guests too – I think it’s a great idea. He’ll feel important and my family will get a kick out of how adorable he will look in his tux.

Could you have 2 flower girls (his sisters) and he could carry the rings? Or, I agree, handing out programs would be a good job, if you’re having them. I really like the idea of seating the Grandmas. 🙂

@MalbecMe: Since he’s 12 (and very tall for his age) I felt like he was too old to be the ring bearer (and I’m just now noticing I typed 10 in the other post) so I’m breaking with tradition and having my 10 year old niece be the ring bearer. I’m going to take her to Build-a-Bear and have her make a bear to carry the rings down the aisle on and keep for her own after the wedding. My 5 year old niece is going to be the flower girl.
