My sister has asked me to organise her baby shower, such an honour! I guess I’m after some tips – what kind of games to play/how many to play, prizes, party favours, any ideas you Bees can think of! This will be the first baby in my family, so I’ve never done this before (or even been to a baby shower!).
Any help would be appreciated – whether you’ve hosted one, had one, been to one, or heard of some really cool ideas! I want to make this really fun and special for my sister!
I have looked up ideas online, but I thought it would be great to ask other women what they thought.

@Deejayelle: I am hosting a babyshower for a friend. I requested that all the far away guests record a video msg that i will play on the day or email a letter which i will read at the shower. Then I have also asked each guest to bring a piece of fabric cut from an item of clothing or other personal item of theirs… These pieces will be used to make a one of a kind keepsake babyquilt for the baby. in addition I am also doing a time capsUle. I have askes each guest to bring an item which to them embodies 2013. The idea is that we put these items into a time capsule and we each write a note with a wish for the baby and we add it to the time capsule and then seal it – only to be opened at the baby’s 18th birthday. I will for instance include a newspaper, magazine, cd with current music, etc. it will literally be a last from the past when it is openend in 18 years’ time. my friend specifically requested no games, so we will have nine of that, but I did buy special crayons that can be used on fabric, so we will personalise two pillowcases as an activity for the guests. When you iron the pillowcase after you have used the crayons, the design is embedded on the fabric.

I planned both of my sisters baby showers, and my SIL’s baby shower and they all turned out really well. They usually lasted about 3-4 hours, where we played approximately 2 games, ate and watched the mama’s open presents. I would have prizes for 2 winners per game, little things like lip gloss, candles, etc. Favors were always edible. For my first sister’s we did butterfly shaped sugar cookies, my SIL it was animal shaped sugar cookies, and for the most recent one I made pink cake pops. We made sure to have enough finger foods and drinks, but it all depends on what kind of shower you want to throw. Sometimes it’s just cake and coffee/juice etc. Hope this helps, you can always PM me if you have more questions.

At my baby shower, we played the dirty diaper game, the “guess the circumference of the pregnant woman’s belly” game, name baby words with the alphabet, unscramble baby words, etc. Basically your standard games. I hate baby games, so I just told my step sister to do whatever, haha! For my favors, I had a candy bar. It was a HUGE hit!
