Hi Bees! I’m in need of some advice. I found THE dress! I am in love with it and there is no question that it’s the one I’m supposed to wear on my wedding day. I’m going for a vintage /shabby/garden wedding theme and the dress is exactly what I imagined.
I’m just hung up on one small detail. The dress did not originally come with a sash or belt, but I am adamant about having one with the dress. I think a long champagne colored sash would add something extra.
The issue is that the dress has a seam right underneath the bust. This is fine, but the bust seam looks awkward with a sash around the waist. I have a lont torso and the sash seems to take away from my waist, instead of accentuating it (see picture).
I am considering placing the sash right under the bust along the seem to add an empire line. This would look great, except the dress has a very open back. I feel like a sash that cut right through the open V back might take away from the beautiful design.
I really like how the dress looks from the back when the bow sits right beneath the open V back. I’m thinking about having the empire sash in front, fall down the back to the bottom of the V. I don’t sew and have no basic knowledge of alterations so I have no idea if this would even be possible to do, or if I could afford this kind of alteration after buying the dress. Does anyone think this is something I could do on my own? I am also open to any other ideas to tie in the sash idea.
What do y’all think?
