Hello Bee’s I need some help. My wedding vow renewal is still 18 months away but I am DIYing ALL of it so I am starting early .Anyways I am doing the ceremony and reception in one spot ,a huge Gazebo over looking the lake . The problem is that the back side of the gazebo’s view is a parking lot. I am planning on draping white, purple and blue tulle on the “window” where the ceremony will be as an arch, with white tulle on all the other “windows”. I was considering just covering the “windows with tulle to match the “arch” but tulle is so transparent.Maybe I could double it up or hand different widths of ribbon in front of the tulle ?? Oh I also plan on making wreaths out of vintage sheets to hang in the center of each “closed window” along with some flower pomanders. HELP!! I am on a tight budget but don’t want the atmosphere ruined because of the parking lot.

maybe you can do a backdrop of some kind on that side, like a tent-wall but maybe decorate it a bit? add some clear light strands and some minimal decor…?
beautiful view otherwise.

Ye,I definitly want to create some kind of wall, just not sure what to do it with.I don’t want those sections to not match the rest of the decor :/ I am hoping I can just do a few layers of tulle and pretend the parking lot is not there lol 😀

tulle is very transparent you would have to use at least 3 times the material to get a non see through effect. the only other option is to line the tulle with a cheap white fabric behind. or you could buy cheap faux silk flowers and string them on fishing line and hang them in front of the tulle like this picture. it would distract the eye well.

I wouldn’t use tulle. Even a very light wind will blow it around and knot it up. I’d get some PVC pipe or something, and wrap that in cheap fabric–Walmart and places like that will have sales for about $1.00 a yard. If you’re worried about the noise (looks like there is a highway behind) you could wrap the fabric all around the pipe, instead of just on one side. Alternately, you could rent tall potted plants to put back there. It really isn’t that horrible, though.

OMG! CMSGIRL that is beautiful! I really like that! Thank you.
EffieTrinket: It is not a freeway just a regular street. So no noise from that but there is a spraypark about 100 feet from the gazebo so that does have me concerned. I plan on going there several times this June so I can see how much of it I will be able to hear . I may be able to use your tip also 😀
Thank you Ladies!!

The ribbon backdrop would be prob one of the most cost effective options

If there is an outlet handy, you can also hang draping white Christmas lites, with or without tulle.
