My number 1 plan will be to elope and then have parties in each location where our families are. I’m stupidly optimistic my Future In-Laws demands for a full on corporate party wedding will lead to them accepting the party idea and running with a fancy party over expensive wedding.
In the interim I want some ideas on how to elope is style.
We’re adventure/nature/travel people. I want to do something AWESOME but also have a pro photog there to capture the moment artisitically. We live in the rocky mountains so something along the lines of a helicopter to a summit would be awesome… even followed by a trash that dress moment in snow or something. We also might do an elopement on the honeymoon type thing – we’ll be going to Germany but that location is FH’s idea and I’m not sure what awesomeness can be found there atm.
I know things like skydiving has been done – but what other things are possible. Again, a photographer is important to me… so it has to be something that could photograph nicely and then have some fun time.
Ideas on this?

I thought of having a heli wedidng too but then I saw the costs and will probably go with something near a lake (Emerald Lake or Moraine Lake). We’d rather put the $$ towards a 3 night stay at Reudi Beglingers chalet. It is only accesible by helicopter. So there’s my helicopter ride! LOL

I have had some friends get married in Homer, AK, http://www.sadiecove.com/weddings.htm Its beautiful there, and depending on the time of year there is plenty of kayaking, hiking, snowshoing, skiing in the area.

@Pele we should talk!! My groom & I are in the process of planning a heli-wedding/planned elopement in the mountains of Colorado. Photography & fun are our main objectives (of course right behind actually marrying each other!!)

My fiancé and I are eloping in the rainforest in Costa Rica. We are having a trash the dress photo session on the beach afterwards. There are many tours that you can take if you have your honeymoon there as well. 🙂 There’s one tour that we are currently looking at where you drive ATV’s deep into the rainforest, swim in natural pools, climb a 50 foot tree, have lunch on top of the tree, take a Tarzan swing off of it, rappel down a large waterfall, and then drive your ATV back out of the rainforest. We are also looking into river rafting and horseback riding through the rainforest and beach. Sound adventurous enough for you? 🙂 Just message me if you want links to things.
Rio Celeste is an amazingly beautiful river in Costa Rica but I’m not sure if you are allowed to get married there and I know you would have to hike there as well. I read you aren’t supposed to swim in it though because it may be unsafe.
Here’s a picture of Rio Celeste: http://www.tenoriolodge.com/images2/tenorio_lodge_activites_01_rio_celeste.jpg
