I’m newly engaged and my fiance and I think we have found a venue. We are still deciding, but have really fallen in love when a barn. They are still building it and will be done in a few weeks, so no one has ever had a wedding there before. SO, I will pretty much have free reign when it comes to decor and everything which is a great thing, however it could also be a lot of work. I’m not the most creative person ever, so I’m worried that I won’t know how to decorate it. I wanted to get some cute ideas to see if it’s possible and if we should go ahead and have the ceremony/reception at the barn, or keep looking for something else. Let me know if anyone has any good pictures or ideas that I can get some creative juices flowing! Thank you 🙂

Barn receptions can be really great! They have a great rustic feel. Make sure that there will be electrical outlets in the barn, that there are convienant bathrooms, kitchen and parking. Also make sure there will be enough room for people to scooch their chairs in and out around the tables, room for the DJ/band (or sound equipment) and room for the caterer or banquet to be set up. Also take into consideration the time of year…will it be really hot? Cold? Will it make the very old guests or very young guests cranky? Decorating can be very simple, if you want. Hang some streamers, use stacks of hay, rent some old barrells or wagon wheels. Use simple, rustic type flowers (giant daisies, geraniums, etc) Mason jars and Ball canning jars make great vases! Use materials like burlap, brown paper sack and twine with more elegant materials like satin ribbon to create a rustic-chic look! Do a google search…I’m sure you’ll find tons of pictures for ideas!
