I’m 5’5″ and about 170… I loved mermaids (and trumpets and fit-n-flares, etc), but I was concerned about how they would look on me… They ended up being the only styles I liked — Ball gowns, empires waists, A lines, etc were not as flattering on me!
Here’s my dres:

the same thing happend, the ballgowns, which are suppose to be flattering in the tummy area for everyone, made me look like a marshmellow lol. you look amazing in your dress =]

I’m 5’3″ and around 150 at the time of this photo and I bought this dress. I say try it on and if you like it, go for it. It’s a surprising silhouette.

I am 4’10 and weigh about 130 (Doesnt seem that bad, but Im short). I am so used to wearing ball gowns to hide my larger hips and stomach area, but I was determided to try something different for my wedding. I had my hopes set on getting a mermaid style, but knew it would probably look horriable. To my suprise, I tried on a mermaid and fell in love! It made me look taller and thinner, and actually emphasized my curvyness (in a good way) I look about 15 (im 23) , but in my dress I feel more mature and sexy. I felt over powerd by dress in every other style.

I am 5’6 and about 150. Mermaid dresses did infact make me look fat. I have HUGE hips, thunder thighs and a bit of a tummy, but a really lean upper body. I opted for a dress that hid my hips and went with a full A-line dress.
Congrats on the weight loss! Pick the best feature about your body and find a dress that emphasises that!
