I frequent job search sites every few days to see if new things pop up, and I noticed that a job I previously applied for on Monster has been posted again. I never heard anything back the first time I applied, and I don’t know if that means they’re just trying to get more applicants or that they didn’t like the ones they had.
Should I send them my resume again, or is that too pushy?
I had an interview last week, and while I feel like I might get the job, it never hurts to have a back-up plan..

How long ago was the first posting you applied for ?

@misskittenn: I say send it again. I think it’s okay to show more persistence in professional relationships than we’re comfortable doing in social relationships.
That said, I’m no human resources professional so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

It was a little more than a month ago.
My perception of how long it should take a company to contact you is probably skewed though, the interview I had last week took only three days to call me in.

I say reapply. They may have filled the position by the time you applied to the previous posting or didn’t get around to calling everyone in for itnerviews before finding someone. You never know. And I agree w/ the PP that says it’s ok to show persistance – that’s usually a good thing.

The worst that can happen is they can turn you down again and you’ll be in the same position you are now. Nothing to lose!

@misskittenn: I think it depends. How long ago did you apply for this job? If it’s only been a few weeks to a month, I wouldn’t resubmit my application. If it’s been more like 6 months or more, it might not hurt to reapply.
For what it’s worth, I applied for the position I have now once before and was rejected. When the position opened again about 2.5 years later (approximately), I decided to try again. I was called back almost immediately, given a phone interview, scheduled for an in-person interview, and offered the position a few days later. I’ve now been working with my company for a little over 1.5 years, and I’m really happy there. I’m definitely glad I decided to apply for a second time!

I say apply again.
None of us knows who they hired or why, if they did hire anyone.
They may have decided to promote someone from within before interviewing or even reading the resumes.

I always apply again. What have you got to lose?
