I would go with Francoise Slaugter Molnan, because it would mean something special to your dad. It isn’t common, but I like it!

Slaughter-Molnan. Could you have it double barrelled?

Just a thought. If you choose to hyphenate like the poster above suggested, you can still go socially by just Molnan, but legally you’ll have the Slaughter there in the hyphen so your father might be appeased. Could that work?

I like your original middle name as your middle name. That is how I did it. I may think differently because I have two brothers and many male cousins who will (hopefully) carry on our family’s last name. I don’t need to do that. In addition, my parents chose my middle name (Victoria) because it is a family name and they liked it with my first name. They didnt choose my last name…it was passed down. This is why I think keeping my middle name is actually more special and meaningful to my parents – because it is honoring a choice they made when they named me. I hope my future children do the same thing with their names!

i like your middle name and his last name – such a unique name 🙂

i’ve battled with this too – im going from a super unique last name which i looove to a very very common last name which i love too but i wouldnt consider not taking his name. Anyway first name, last name, his last name sounds so funny with my name that i decided just to keep my middle and drop my maiden – it makes me sad 🙁
