obviously I am not a moron, nor was I born yesterday… I do know that it’s cold in January even better I do know that it could potentially snow! I don’t need every person that ask about our wedding date to tell me that…I also dont need my future in laws complaing about it and then make my future husband start wondering if we picked a good date.
A. We ARE NOT getting married outside… I promise it’ll be nice and toasty inside the venue and even better than that I’m not even going to make you go to two different places!
B. If it snows…the people that we care the most about and who truly care about us…will be there, one way or another they will be there! Also we are having a intimate wedding anywa
C. I don’t need to be just like my future sister in law and get married in the middle of june…I’m not that girl…BUT I am a sweat-er, and the last thing I want is to be hot and uncomfortable on my wedding day.
D. There is potential for bad weather any season! Just incase you didn’t know. 🙂
okay thanks for letting me vent hive….anyone else catching a ton of grief about picking a winter month for their wedding

@victoria.snoddy: lol, I’m sorry, but…. when I read your title, I was like “nooooo, really? I thought it was hot in January!” which is the response i’d SOOOO give anyone who said something like that to me! (yes, I can be a TOTAL smartass sometimes, 😉 )
I completely hear you on the complaints about the weather, though. We’re having ours in April and, being just two hours away, I’m sure you know what April is like!!! Especially this past year! (April was wet and rainy and muddy and cool/col! It’s usually wet, sometimes cold, icky, sometimes hot and humid… for those not familiar with VA weather…)
I think I’ve heard nothing my “Better hope it doesn’t rain!” “But what if it’s COLD???” “Do you have a rain plan???” UGH!!!!!
Sorry you’ve gotta deal with such an annoying fact!! (Hellooooo, we’re not in Florida!!!! Though I WAS asked, while in Michigan years ago, if VA got snow. So…. yeah…. at least YOUR guests are familiar with where VA is and the weather we get!!!! LOL!)
HUGS!!!! Hopefully they’ll eventually just shut up about it! 🙂

ooo i know all about this, being a february bride – the week of my wedding was insane, snow showers all along the east coast througout the entire week. everytime i looked at the weather forecast i was like oooohhhh no why me?! but lukcily, snow in the carolina’s is not too common, though we do get some and are accustom to cold weather i was more worried about all my guests who were coming from up north and traveling in that mess!
Everyone seem to make it here ok – they called for snow showers on thursday here in Charlotte, we got a few flurries but nothing crazy – then saturday came, the sun came out and it was almost 60 degrees! thats crazy carolina weather for you. so we got super lucky BUT i wasnt against snow either! have you seen wedding pictures in the snow? beatufiul. i knew what i was getting myself into with a winter wedding.

I plan on having a winter wedding and I hope no one will give me too much flak. I will just try hard to make it cozy and comfortable so guests feel like their getting a little treat in the middle of winter.
Oh and By The Way… It’s going to be cold in January. Just thought you should know. lol

My sympathies. February wedding here, and I’ve heard it all too. My mom was actually the worst complainer about it. She really hates the winter.
It snowed the day before our wedding and rained the day of. But everybody showed up and got there just fine, and apart from my bridesmaids shivering between shots when we took a select few photos outside, nobody cared that it was miserable out, they were having too much of a good time.
And I have photos of my husband and I walking out in the snow in the park where we had our first snowball fight, which makes me super happy.
Winter winning 🙂

Haha, yea I get tired of people saying it’s going to be hot in July. Yea, I know. And yes, the wedding is outside. And yes, you’ll be fine for 15 minutes, then you can run inside for the reception. Oh well 🙂

I can definitely relate to you!! I am so sick of hearing the negative comments about our winter wedding. Yes, we know it’s winter, and it’s cold, and it might snow, we were not born yesterday. It gets really old repeating ourselves to everyone about why we chose the winter to get married.

@Zinzerena: Exactly! Sarcasm was INVENTED for situations like this!

@Beluga: so very true!!!! LOL! also makes the person commenting feel like an idiot! or at least shuts ’em up 😉

@victoria.snoddy: I got married in December and heard all of the same bs. Our wedding was fantastic. Plus it was great to actually take a step outside and take a deep breath of cold air. DH and I wanted it to snow…it would have made amazing pictures! I would have loved to have one’s like this LOL.

I have also heard the comments “Why winter?” “What if it snows?” “What if it rains?” “What if there are flight delays for out of town guests?” “Why couldn’t you do it in summer so we could come to Greece in the summer?” Um, my wedding is not centered around a few people’s vacation time!
Fiance and I didn’t even consider a spring or summer wedding- we think wintertime is incredibly romantic, and lends itself to the more formal style that we wanted.
@victoria.snoddy: I feel your pain date-twin! Our weddings will be awesome though!

Yeah I am a sweater too and I don’t want to be sweating off my damn makeup that is exactly why we are getting married in January. Besides I am in Texas and to me it isnt ever really that cold.

“What if it snows?!?!?” “Won’t it be cold?”
Seriously, my charming little guests? Have you no other comment to make about our wedding? I love you dearly, but let’s get real here.
Next person with a “cold?/snow?/winter?” comment may accidentally be slapped.

I hear you on these complaints…only the opposite!
We’re having an outdoor August wedding…and I keep getting “it will be hot” “there will be be bugs” “its going to be sunny”
Um? and the problem is? This was not an oversight on our part. I LOVE THE HEAT, HUMIDIDY (I am not a sweater)…so its my day, my freaking way!
No matter what I don’t think you can please people. I know when one of my BM’s got married in December she got alot of complaints too. I actually remember thinking it was a little odd at the time (just because I never ever ever imagined a winter wedding…I mean I should be hibernating). Just let all the scrooges deal with it on their own time. It will be awesome!
