Laundry and dishes would get done more if he was the sahs
but the bathroom would never get cleaned . The dogs would never be bathed . The bedding wouldn’t get washed enought etc .
we also would live off cereal and noodles

Me, since I already am (well, stay-at-home fiance for the moment) :-). I “run” one of FI’s companies though (CEO, but my weekly amount of “work” is maybe an hour? It used to be a full-time thing but now that it has taken off there’s not much for me to do). I don’t feel like I’m wasting my degree, I just pursue other interests, which for now includes mostly wedding planning. It wouldn’t make sense for me to work since if I made the most I could with my level of experience and degree I still wouldn’t make enough to make any impact on our finances.

@Bubbles42: To me this scenario is highly unlikely. There is no scenario I can imagine, where one of the partners HAS to stay home. I agree with you on the not-neccessarily-wanting-to-take-care-of-the-house-thing though; i’d also rather work in my field. (But I’d also hate for Fiance to give up his career.)

Being a Stay-At-Home Mom sounds pretty great to me, and I at this point that’s our (eventual) plan. My DH also has an interest in being a SHAD…but it’s more to do with wanting to get to quit work and bike ride all day rather than being super interested in child rearing.

Ooo I struggled… Right now I love my job so much, but DH would go NUTS NUTS NUTS at home. He really would. Our dream is to live in the country and have some land, so I would garden and have a stable with some horses. Boarders would help bring in some money to upkeep it… if I HAD to be SAH and we were making enough to live off of I wouldn’t need to make money off of the stables, just enough to cover it :P. Then I would have something to do! Maybe we could rescue horses, donkeys, goats, etc….
I could be happy doing that!!
