even for actual weddings and not vow renewals, those “rules” only apply if you want them too! i personally would not sleep anywhere but my FIs arms the night before as i needed his cuddles to de-stress me!   and i am also one of the brides out there who wanted my FI’s opnion on my dress before i bought it. so he had seen pics of me in the dress many times.  he never saw it on me live though until our wedding day.

basically, i think since you never had your dream wedding, if you want to apply these “rules” because you would have done so back then, then there is no rule saying you can’t!  have fun with it!

it is totally up to you, you can keep or break the rules depending on what you prefer

you can run this show however you want! the only things frowned upon are showers, registering and bachelorette/bachelor parties.

we are renewing our vows in November and he has not seen my dress, and we will be apart the night before but only because I don’t need to stress with 7 kids climbing the walls the night before my wedding LOL. He will stay home with the kids while my bestie and I stay in a 5 star hotel and relax ๐Ÿ™‚

@Rileyxoxo3: no. when Darling Husband proposed my mother planned a huge wedding that she had always dreamed of giving me. Then, she got terribly ill, diagnosed with cancer, and became bed ridden with 3 months. We had a JoP wedding with about 10 people present so she could see us wed and Darling Husband told me that one day he would give me that big wedding. 15 years later, we’re doing it ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t even have pics of the day because it went like this: she got diagnosed, I freaked and told Darling Husband I needed to care for mom and the wedding would have to be postponed. Mom said “I *will* see you married” so we made it happen in 48 hours. She died 9 months later ๐Ÿ™

i would do it like a first wedding if its what your mom wanted. my mom passed unexpectedly in december and she wanted me to have a dream wedding. her and i had been planning for over 6 months. when she passsed i told Fiance i dont want a wedding i just want to be married at the court house. he told me i wasnt allowed because my mom would come to haunt him till i got the one her and i were planning on the date we wanted. (my mom LOVED the date we picked) so we are having our dream wedding because im not allowed to have a jop wedding lol

I am looking forward to my renewal as it IS the day my mom wanted me to have. And Darling Husband has never seen me truly dressed up so I am keeping my dress a secret. ๐Ÿ™‚
