I guess if I had to pick something, I could say the candy buffet. We wanted candy in our wedding colors and while we did buy a few things on sale after holidays, most of it was bought from a specialty bulk candy store and would could have spent less if we went to Sam’s Club and bought candy in a variety of colors instead. Otherwise we didn’t have any huge budget breaking things in the wedding.

I definitely would have cut back on the DJ he was ALOT of money and we heard he was the best in the city so we booked him…and needless to say he was NOT what I expected and didn’t do much to get the crowd going even though I specifically asked him too. Also our photographer my father in law knew him from work and he did not even get main pictures like of our musicians or of my mom, dad, me and brother he just kind of did the minimum and called it quits our friends did a WAY better job.

peachypear – Me too!!! Mine is also my dress. I spent within what I budgeted, but in retrospect I think it’s too much since I don’t know what to do with it now. . I originally wanted a simple dress but was talked out of it. I do love the dress I bought but I don’t think it’s really me. I still look good though. Haha 😛

Invites, I know now I could have gotten a WAY better deal using someone on Etsy.  Also, the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, they were beautiful, but I would have found something cheaper.

Our ceremony venue. We had our hearts set on using a local microbrewery for our reception, and we did-it was awesome, but it just wasn’t appropriate for a ceremony. So we spent $1,000 *just* to have a ceremony at George Ranch. And it rained the night before our wedding, so we didn’t even get to have it in their treehouse like we planned-they tried to put us in the chapel, which was a BIG NO (we had our hearts set on an outdoor ceremony, and the chapel was dark and ugly, a photographer’s nightmare). We ended up getting married on an oak tree-lined road on the property. It worked out beautifully, but for the money, I think we could have done a a lot better.

if only looking at the dollar amount, i’d say the dress, though i didn’t mind as much for the cause it contributed to.  otherwise i’d say ours was the cheap little wedding that could!  we had positive feedback for almost every aspect so they were all worthwhile.

transportation – the parents insisted on limos, I would have been happy just driving the few miles to get there. They paid for it but I still wish they hadn’t.

and to a lesser extent booze (specifically champage – there’s still champagne sitting in their garage – the beer and wine at least got drunk after the fact!)
