MemberIf I had the money and didn’t need to work, I doubt very much I would do this job I do. I probably would get on with my dream of getting a degree in literature, and concentrating my time on doing volunteer work. If I didn’t need to work and had kids, I would not work at all – I would love more than anything to stay at home with them.
Memberwouldn”t work a full time job, but would volunteer way more than I am able to now, would get more involved in the Lions Club than I am now and beome a docent for a historical site.

I hate being the breadwinner and working. I hate going to work and I wish I did something more fulfilling, but I’m paid too much for what I do so ultimately, I’m trapped.
If I didn’t have to work I’d quit in a heartbeat. All I want to do is stay at home, cook, clean and do some crafts. But I would want to do it for the love of it, not because I had a deadline (ie – making my hobbies my job).
Our gameplan is for me to be a Stay-At-Home Mom and I honestly believe I’d be excited about waking up in the morning to spend the day with my kids and be at home.
At the moment life is “get up, go to work, have lunch, leave work, eat dinner, watch TV, go to bed” and I HATE it.
MemberWhether someone would stop working if they had the option greatly depends on whether they’re lucky enough to have a fulfilling job that they enjoy. I’m guessing that factory workers, cleaners, waitresses, shop assistants, call centre workers and everyone else with boring menial jobs would happily quit working, while professors, doctors, artists, writers and others with fulfilling jobs would happily continue working.
I wouldn’t work if I could afford not to. I trained as a journalist and there are NO job vacancies in my local area, so I have to do low paid menial work to pay the bills (teaching basic literacy classes, cleaning, babysitting, even waitressing). I only have the opportunity to write on an unpaid basis, when I’m not too exhausted from all the menial work I have to do in order to keep afloat financially. If I could get a proper job as a journalist then of course I’d keep working, but at present the option NOT to work would give me the opportunity to spend my time doing unpaid work in what I love.
HostessI would still work…just not as much as I do now. Maybe take a part time job?
MemberIf we’re talking about hitting the lotto and becoming an instant multi-millionaire — no, I would not work. I would quit in a heartbeat.
I used to love my job wholeheartedly, but the climate at work has gone downhill in the past couple of years. I can think of a million things I’d rather do with my time than go to work.
If I quit or lost my job right now, we would be OK, but at my age I want to continue saving aggressively for retirement — at least for a few more years. I am definitely going to retire early, though.
MemberI would still work but not where I am now. I would so open my bakery and work there decorating cakes, and do wedding shows.
MemberI’ve been at work probably 30 minutes and am already having a shit day and it’s only going to get worse when people decided to roll in after I’ve been here for 2+ hours..
So yeah, put me in the I wouldn’t work camp. (Someone tell my job it’s not MONDAY!)

MemberMemberI totally wouldn’t want to work. But I’d want to do something to keep me busy. Volunteering maybe 20 hours a week? I think it’s important to have some type of daily or mostly daily schedule in your life so you don’t turn into a bum.

MemberMy first thought was no way would I work! But I think it would be nice to volunteer or pursue something like writing without the pressure of having to make a living at it. Depending on my age when I got the money tree, I don’t think I could spend the rest of my life doing hobbies and whatnot…I would get too antsy.
MemberI would work, but something I really enjoy doing- i.e. photography, learning some languages for becoming a travel photographer, etc.
