We will be getting married on the beach, so that’s free…our “venue” is the beach house that we and 22 of our closest friends will be staying in though. Since that’s their accommodations, we aren’t paying for anything more than our part of the beach house, and everyone who is staying there is essentially covering the “venue” for us and also saving money in the process by not staying at a hotel and paying a ton more.
Our reception is going to be at a local beach bar/restaurant, and we’re just paying for food and drinks…no site fee or anything.
This is probably not helpful to you I just realized…haha good luck!

@chillinchillin: Not a New Yorker but a Philly girl and I had to go an hour out of the city to find the venue. Best thing is to look in to restaurants!! Our venue is a restaurant but they converted their upstairs into a wedding venue. Our highest dish is $40 per person and it’s New York steak so that’s super cheap!!
Another thing to that into consideration is the season June-September sometimes even up to October are super popular wedding months so they jack up the price. November isn’t usually winter weather so that’s what we went with since we love Fall.Or you could have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday which will also be cheaper.
Bar!! I know you want people to have a good time but also consider your wallet. We are going the beer and wine route. That offers 4 import and 4 dom. beers as well as 4 different wines.
Dessert: Some places charge you more for dessert like 6 dollars per person. Opt out of that opition because chances are the wedding cake will be enough!
Guest List: Some people have big families and you want to invite them all of course as well as your friends, show off that beautiful dress! BUTTTTTTT the way I look at it is if you haven’t seen or spoken to these friends and family that are on the list (wayyyy at the bottom cause let’s be honet you probably almost forgot them) take them off!! Explain its a small wedding and that’s all I know it’s harsh but it help you save. Our list was 75 (I want the orginal Carrie Bradshaw wedding) and cut it down to 40.
Our venue has free valet parking, a garden, the reception space, and the outside cermony space; 3 course dinner, wine, beer, soft drinks for 40 guests at approx. 3,500-4,000. And it’s on a Saturday 🙂
Hope this helps!!! Happy planning!
