My ring was about $450! So, this one lol. It’s alexandrite in rose gold, got it on Etsy.

I would skip the diamond and buy a beautiful colored stone of some other kind. Maybe peridot.

snowbelles :  probably something similar to what I already have… small three stone with aquamarine center on a silver band. I just wouldn’t get it custom made. Heck I bet I could stay well under that limit 🙂

ETA: $79 for an okay one at zales before my work computer kicked me off

Still absolutely reeling at an absolutely disgusting comment in this thread. Wow…

In regards to the actual thread question, I LOVE opal. I know it’s not considered an everyday stone, but I have two opal RHRs I wear regularly. So I’d probably want a pretty opal ring!

A wide engraved band, pre-loved diamond solitaire, or rose cut moissanite solitaire.  It would be a tough choice because I love them all.

But to answer the actual thread. I’d get a smaller version of my current ring: a heart-shaped diamond.

I’d skip the engagment ring, add the budget to the wedding band budget and go hunting for some kind of vintage/estate diamond wedding band. Also I am sure I could find that estate ring within my moms or aunts treasures or in my own pre engagment jewelry box and have it reset. Probably for no budget at all. But generally, if the latter option would exist I’d only go for a more or less fancy wedding band.

This in the pictured amethyst, lab ruby or emerald. I like all those gemstones!

The above ring from etsy is $385.  I don’t need to bother with a center stone if the band is decorative.
