@bebefly LOL I forgot people rent.  My guys bought their stuff so it actually ended up costing more then the girls.

I would find a classier venue for the reception.  As it was, I managed to make the venue look good (inside at least) with a lot of DIY decorations.  And it only cost $750 for rent and $250 for an open bar for 60 people for five hours.  But it would have been nice (and required a lot less work) to start out with a venue that already looked good.

If I could, I would:

Make a great donation to a charity in honor of our wedding (we will do this, but I wish we could do more),

Pay all of the expenses for our wedding party and guests that must travel,

Get an amazing videographer (I’ve seen so many great videos on the bee and wish we had the budget for one).

I would:

*Get fancy chairs (or ever chair covers, I don’t think we’ll end up swinging that)

*Full strings orchestra for the ceremony

*String trio during dinner

and most importantly…

*Invite EVERYONE I want, 200 doesn’t go nearly as far as I would have thought!

Hmm. Great question!

I would, get a more creative venue like a mansion or a museum (to save on cost we went the hotel route).

Have gorgeous manzanita crystal tree centerpieces.

Get upgraded exciting linens

Chivari chairs!

But I would probably insist we blow most of our extra budget on an amazing honeymoon and stay in a hut on stilts someplace gorgeous like this!

It’s been my dream forever but unfortunately we can’t afford it 🙁

If I had double the budget, I’d:

Pay for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (and mothers’ dresses)

Get nice uplighting and ceiling decorations/fabric

Provide transport for all guests from hotel to ceremony and back

Open bar

With triple budget, I’d pay for guests’ accommodations.

@buttontoes: Find gowns you like and then watch them like a hawk! I scored my dream dress at half off since it became discontinued so I purchased the sample.

Down payment on a house, haha! The wedding will be fine the way it is. 🙂

1) pay for the bridesmaid dresses and shoes

2) go on a secluded honeymoon

4) have my reception at a more modern space

3) rent linens, chairs and dishes for the reception tables

It’s interesting so many of us would pick the same upgrades.  Like some of the PPs, I’d…

-Provide transportation to/from venue for guests

-Hire a band

-Have a limo for the wedding party

-Get myself and BMs professional hair and makeup

-Splurge on fancier shoes

-Have a 2nd photographer

I’m sure there’s more I can think of…  😉  I’m really happy with our venue, even if we’re cutting corners elsewhere, I feel so lucky to be having the wedding that we’re planning.

Is it selfish that I would go for a nicer honeymoon? We’re still not sure what we’re going to be able to do with what’s left over after paying for all the actual wedding stuff.

Wow, if I had double our budget I would want to:

  • rent cars for everyone from out-of-town
  • subsidize flights/hotels for everyone from out-of-town
  • pay for the bridesmaids’ dresses and shoes, and for buy the groomsmen their suits
  • get letterpress invitations!
  • hire a florist instead of planning to DIY our flowers
  • get a videographer

Whew!  If only.
