I voted “yes” but on second thought I wouldn’t for some specific reasons. My center stone is a sapphire. There are diamond side stones that I was voting on that I would have done as moissanite instead, but now that I think about it I’m not sure how small of moissanite stones you can get. These are probably about .2 each. If they had moissanite that small than yes, I would have. Or if I had gone with a colorless center stone instead, but my sapphire is perfect Smile

Probably not. I think moissanite is a beautiful, ethical, affordable option for jewelry, but I still would have picked diamonds in the end.

@risingsun:  Yup, you can get moissanite that small, and smaller! They make entire rings with moissanite pave.

I love answering polls and I really can’t answer this one! I want moissanite, but he’s not for it at all. He wants the traditional diamond, so that’s what we’re going with.

I switched from a diamond to moissanite. Best decision ever.

I had the option and budget for either, and was fully informed on either by time I went for my new rings, and went with moissanite without question. I just love it! My smaller side stones are champagne/cognac diamonds though as I could not get moissanite with those particular colours.

I did not purchase mine as a “diamond alternative” though. I really did purchase it as I love moissanite though certainly the price is a very, very, very nice perk and I felt far more comfortable spending what I did on a stone and having our money for other things, rather than looking for a diamond that did not really “sing to me” as much as my moissanite did. My prior rings were sapphire, and again, not purchased as a “diamond alternative” but as I love sapphire. We looked at many diamond rings originally and I just never felt pulled to it like I did with the sapphire, or later the moissanite.

@RayKay Dang! Haha. Fiance picked out the ring and he was opposed to moissanite. I think he would have come around to it if he was better informed. ETA: I know what you mean. I just never got a “feeling” looking at diamond rings. When I see my friends’ diamond rings they all look gorgeous, but it wasn’t right for me.

I voted no.  Moissanite is very pretty, but I’ve always wanted a diamond for my e-ring, and I absolutely love mine.

I didn’t know about moissanite till I joined Weddingbee, which was after I got engaged. I’m really intrigued by it! My husband and I may have considered it, but I’m not sure what we would have done. I’m awfully happy with my ring, and I’ve never actually seen a moissanite in person, so it’s just hard to say.

I had heard about it and read up about it before getting engaged, but my Fiance was really against it.  He said he didn’t want people to think he was cheap (I don’t know why he cares so much but whatever).  In the end, we went with an antique ring, and I’m really happy we did 🙂

No.  I have no problems with moissanite, they’re very beautiful stones, but I’m so glad my Fiance picked out what he did.  If he had given me a choice, I probably wouldn’t have picked out the blue diamond that he did.  As a matter of fact, I had asked him for sapphires when I was dreaming about my e-ring, so he didn’t listen to me anyway.  Haha

I love my e-ring and wouldn’t change it even if I were given the chance.

@risingsun:  The first time my husband heard about moissanite he had that kind of reaction too, just because he really did not know what it was. Then I got mine and he was super excited about it, reading up about it, asking questions, and showing off how sparkly it was to people we ate dinner with in restaurants, ha ha.

I’d never heard of it before the Bee. It may be perfect for some, but I love my diamond and wouldn’t change it for anything!

I don’t know, because I had never heard of moissanite for engagement rings until the Bee.  I love the pics everyone posts, the rings look amazing and I would really love to see in IRL.  So, maybe I would have, not sure.  I love my diamond e-ring the way it is so much, though, so I probably would have stuck with what I have.
