I chose Moissanite over diamond and couldn’t be happier about it. Diamond doesn’t have the fire that Moissanite does. FH and I were in a restaurant today and I couldn’t stop staring at my ring because of how much it was sparkling.

Well cut, clear diamonds do sparkle, they are gorgeous. But moissanite has double the refraction. It’s not a dig at diamonds it’s just science. Some people like that aspect, some do not.

@KatyElle:  I was totally about to say that!  I’m not one for all that sparkle in the moissy or that diamond posted.  My diamond has the perfect amount of sparkle for me.

I do have some super cool sparkily Converse shoes that I sometime wear.  I bought them a few years ago. They cheer me up. 🙂

I knew about it but I wouldn’t change my decision. Diamond is my choice.

I found out about it from these boards, and told SO about. He’s super down, and the lower price also means we can get engaged in the next year, as well as afford a wedding, and start saving for a down payment on a house. All of those things are worth way more to me than something thats just going to sit on my finger and look pretty for the rest of my life lol.

But, to each their own. If you want diamonds, by all means, get a diamond! I won’t judge your choice of getting one, as long as you don’t judge my choice of getting a moissanite. Plain and simple Laughing

    I voted “No” because I didn’t choose a diamond OR a moissanite–I chose a sapphire instead! 😀

Ok, I commented on this thread before, but my perception has since changed. If I was getting engaged now, I would definitely want a moissanite. I have seen more and more pics and I absolutely love the stone. It is sooo beautiful. I love how much it reflects color and has almost an iridescent look to it. It is one of the prettiest gemstones I think I’ve ever seen. I think it is important to love moissanite for what it is, and not expect it to perform like a diamond. I do think that moissanite is gorgeous, and I wouldn’t get it because it’s cheaper than a diamond or because it’s more ethical or whatever. I would get it simply because it is gorgeous and I love it. If I ever lose my diamond ring (God forbid) I would go with moissanite when it came time to replace it.

Also, WantToBeM.E. you sound rude and snobby. And IMO, Louis Vuitton is super tacky and overdone. It’s like the McDonalds of fashion, soooo….

If I was better informed I would choose moissanite the first time around. I love moissanite so much more because of how flawless and sparkly it looks to me. Even lab diamonds have flaws that are visible to me. I also like really large stones in unusual cuts, so I could not justify having something the price of a car on my finger, it’s just not me. I also have been switching to eco friendly/recycled options for everything, so moissanite is perfect for me.
